The Ohio State Fire Marshall has lifted the burn ban for Athens County.

But you must follow the fall burn laws - No open burning between the hours of 6am-6pm during October and November.

As of October 3rd the Ohio State Fire Marshal announced that the burn ban IS STILL IN EFFECT for Southeastern Ohio which includes Athens and all surrounding counties are in that area.

This means that you CAN NOT burn. You cannot burn in a burn barrell, you cannot burn in a fire ring, you cannot burn yard trimmings, you are not permitted to burn ANYTHING at this time.

Please do not burn, fires get away from you in a split second, when you do that you put yourself in danger as well as your property.

Athens County is under a Ban on ANY open burning.
