πŸŒŠπŸ’™ SEPTEMBER IS LOVE OUR WATERWAYS MONTH! πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

Louisiana is home to 14,400 miles of waterwaysβ€”our rivers, lakes, bayous, and shorelines are essential to our environment, economy, recreation, health, and culture. But keeping them clean is something we ALL have a role in.

Throughout September 2026, Keep Louisiana Beautiful is bringing communities together for a month-long, statewide Waterway & Shoreline Cleanup! πŸ§€πŸ—‘οΈ

Did you know? 80% of litter and debris found in our waterways starts on land. That litter can travel through ditches and streams into our bayous, rivers, and lakesβ€”and eventually make its way to the Gulf. 🌎🌊

πŸ’ͺ There are several ways YOU can help:
🚀 Clean up by boat
πŸ–οΈ Clean up shorelines and land
πŸ“£ Spread the word and encourage others to participate
πŸ’™ Support local cleanup efforts through a donation

Whether you grab a few friends, organize a community cleanup, or volunteer with an existing effort, every piece of litter removed makes a difference.

Let's work together to protect the waterways that make Louisiana so special. πŸ’™

πŸ¦ͺ Happy National Oyster Day!

Did you know oysters do much more than make a delicious meal?

🌊 A single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day, helping improve water quality.
πŸͺ¨ Oyster reefs help reduce wave energy, protecting our shorelines from erosion.
🐟 They also create essential habitat for fish, shrimp, crabs, and countless other marine species that support Louisiana's coastal economy.

Healthy oyster reefs are a vital part of a resilient coast, making them true environmental superheroes!

This National Oyster Day, let's celebrate these incredible ecosystem engineers and the important role they play in protecting Louisiana's coast for generations to come.
