Can I receive benefits for someone living in my household only half of the year?

The answer is yes and no. You can apply for benefits for everyone in your household no matter how long they live there. In Georgia there is no 365 day rule. However, you have certain guidelines to meet within policy. For example: you can have an eighteen year old away at college and still receive SNAP benefits for them. As long as you are still providing their food.

You can not receive benefits for an eighteen year old living in their own home and caring for themselves.

You can’t receive benefits for an eighteen year old that’s visiting you for the holidays.

Good morning! Good morning! Good morning!

With all of the funding becoming available you may wonder how this will affect your SNAP benefits. Monies coming into your household will be counted as income HOWEVER any bills (such as utilities, rent, child care, etc) will deduct how much of that income is counted.

One time lump sum payments such as taxes is not counted. A one time payment of $2000.00 stimulus money is not counted because this money is not ongoing.

PUA, UI, TRA, PUEA payments are ongoing and counted but at a deduction depending on how many bills you are paying.

Bills must be in your name or your spouse’s name. Not your children’s name or a friend’s name. Your business must be in order.

Good morning. Since the pandemic there are a lot of agencies doing thing differently to practice safety guidelines during this time. Most reviews can be completed online; however there are cases in which cases are closing due to lack of completed reviews being entered timely. There are a few suggestions we will offer to help you during these times:

1. Complete your review as soon as you receive notice that it is due. (Waiting to the deadline can and probably will cause a delay in benefits)

2. If you have to complete a paper review make sure you get the name, contact information and their location of the person you spoke to. Calling in and saying someone told you this or that will get you no where

3. Make sure to have all information pertaining to your case. For example: case numbers, your social security number, dates paperwork was completed and how paperwork was submitted. This was help DFACS to locate your information faster.

4. If you completed a review timely (before the 15th of each month) and a Case Worker tell you to reapply....don’t do it! Request a hearing. You don’t have to resubmit an application for benefits that should be ongoing just because an agency is backed up or lacked staff.

Finally it is the responsibility of the family to take care of the family. Your family should not be out of food just because you didn’t receive your SNAP benefits. SNAP is a supplementary to what you should already be providing for your household. Shop wisely; use coupons; always shop clearance items when possible. Use the resources of assistance with gratitude not attitude😂. Familiarize yourself with the policy that governs your assistance, and work on becoming totally self-realizable.

Everyone have a bless day

Is your Case Worker behind on his or her caseload? If your answer is yes and it has caused a delay in your benefits: request a hearing. This hearing request prompts the Supervisor to look into your case; which in some cases will get the Case Worker to complete the case.

The above statement is only true if you have completed a timely review and provided all requested verification timely

Monday Message: If your TANF, SNAP, or Medicaid cases have closed within the last 10 days for not completing a review, you can go into your local DFACS office and complete the review. Your benefits will be untimely as your benefits will be issued 30 days from the date of your completed review.

For example: your review was due on April 6th. You never completed the review. You received a closure letter stating your benefits will end on May 30th. You go into the office and complete review on May 10th, You will receive June's benefits by June 10th.

Saturday Sauces:

As parents we are responsible for the well being of our children. DFACS IS NOT YOUR BABY DADDY OR BABY MAMA!

When you engage the DFACS system you should do humbly, not as if DFACS owes you something.

People get your lives together. One day DFACS will be a thing of the past. The Bible says, if a man does not work, he does not eat?
