The county wide burn ban has been extended through December 26th. Despite the rain over night we are still well below what is needed! Please remember that there is no open burning of combustible materials which includes fire pits and bon fires!

This morning, at the recommendation of the State District Forester and Department of Emergency Services, the Chester County Commissioners extended the current burn ban for an additional 30 days. The ban is now in effect until December 26, 2024.

Thank you to Senator Katie Muth for supporting our funding request for some much needed station upgrades! We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to working together for project funding in the future!

I am thrilled to announce that 29 projects across Senate District 44 have been awarded over $8.4 million in state grants through the statewide Local Share Account (LSA) program and the Public School Facilities Improvement Grant program. This investment will help improve and upgrade school facilities, enhance public safety efforts, improve wastewater treatment facilities, and better equip our first responders.

I appreciate the efforts of our local government officials who continue to advocate for their communities, as well as the collaboration of all the State Representatives who overlap with SD44 to ensure the needs of our communities are met.

Around 10:00 hours, Station 38 was alerted for a pole fire in 600 block of W Bondsville. Rescue 38 arrived to find a pole fire with active brush fire spreading due to high winds. Station 38 along with surrounding mutual aid departments have just cleared a possible building fire assignment within Caln Township. Unfortunately, during the early stages of the incident, the supply hose going from the nearby hydrant to the engine was run over by a motorist. Luckily the hose was not full of water at the time and no significant damage was done to the hose. We URGE everyone to please use caution while incidents are occurring and to not assume that you can pass through as it puts all responders in danger.

History

The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company began in 1938 when community members became concerned about the lack of fire protection in the area. The company was not officially organized until one year later in 1939, when the original 12 members began servicing the village of Thorndale. The charter of the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company was issued on April 18, 1939.

The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company has come along way since its organization in 1939. History will continue to be made as the members of the company step into the future.
