So honored to have shared this event with the WEST graduates tonight.
I am running for DASD School Board Director for West Bradford and Caln Township. ABOUT
My name is Mindy Ross. Email me [email protected] . I would love to connect.
I am honored to have my name on the ballot to support the children, families and community in Downingtown! I’m running for the School Board because I want the best for our kids. My vision is to see every child thrive in the Downingtown Area School District. MY PLATFORM:
I have 3 priorities as School Board Director:
1-I am a huge fan of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I want every child to feel
valued and included at school. We should have the best resources available to include and support students and teachers of all backgrounds—all nationalities, orientations, ethnicities, beliefs, and abilities.
2-I am also passionate about Full Day Kindergarten. Although Downingtown is an outstanding school district, this is an area where Downingtown would benefit by catching up with our neighbors. Half-day kindergarten is a relic from another time, when children typically did not attend preschool and kindergarten was a child’s first classroom experience. I was a public elementary school teacher for 9 years. These days, in order to give reading, writing and math the time they need, half-day teachers are unable to include recess or make much room for creativity. Half-day K also places strain on Downingtown families. Too many families resort to charter schools to make school work for their children. Their energy—not to mention thousands of tax dollars every year—leave DASD. Transitioning to Full-Day Kindergarten will keep money in our district in the long run. By giving our children the full day, we will be able to foster their love of learning and nourish their mental health, while at the same time, we can give them more robust academic readiness. It can even help to close the achievement gap for disadvantaged families and even the playing field for students across the district. It’s a win-win.
3-My third priority is our children’s mental health. The last year and a half have been hard on our community. Now more than ever, we need to let our children know they are supported and have places to turn when they need help. As School Board Director, I will do everything I can to make sure our children are able to get the support they need. If you have a question for me or an idea for the school board, reach out!

Exciting times in DASD!
I would like to introduce everyone to our new superintendent, Dr. Robert O’Donnell who was welcomed to DASD with a unanimous vote.
Over the last month, the board worked tirelessly interviewing candidates and holding discussion meetings. With the community’s input, we knew that Dr. O’Donnell’s experience and commitment to his students and staff made him be a great fit for Downingtown.
Please help me welcome Dr. O’Donnell to the DASD family!
I hope those that celebrate had a wonderful holiday!
Wishing our DASD community a happy Passover - Chag Pesach sameach!
Can we skip to the good part! This! 💙💛💙
Last night, art students from across DASD were recognized for their outstanding artwork.
Annually, our district's visual arts teachers have the opportunity to
honor two students each by presenting their work in the DASD Art
Gallery at Trestle Place. The selected works are digitally reproduced,
framed, and placed in the James E. Watson Staff room for a two-year
cycle, personalizing our space with the talent of our student artists.
This work truly represents the best of our district. Thank you to our
DASD art educators for their creative guidance and support, and a
very special thank you to these students for contributing their talents
to our space.
I am looking forward to listening and learning. 💙💛💙
In response to student requests and in support of inclusivity, DASD is proud to invite our community to the next Listening Session: A Day in the Life of a Muslim Student.
Students, staff, families and community members are invited to join us to hear the lived experiences, testimonials and personal accounts of our Muslim students and community members. All are welcome.

Taking some time out to read a little about Kwanza.
Happy Kwanza friends who celebrate. While it may not be something you celebrate, the principles are important to us all 💙💛💙

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate. Enjoy the holidays and I hope you can take time with your loved ones. 🎄🎄🎄
Last night I was officially sworn in as the School Board Director for Region 8 of the Downingtown Area School District. I want to take a minute to thank everyone for your confidence in me to lead with the best interest of our students, staff, family and community. Those of you that did not choose me to represent you, I understand and will continue to work for you with passion, vision and an open mind.
Last night was amazing. I was not sure what to expect, as I have always seen these meetings as a spectator. I almost forgot to respond when my name was called, I wasn’t certain of proper etiquette and I was a little hesitant to speak. So there may be a learning curve, but I am here for the challenge. 💙💛💙
A huge thank you to the members of the Muslim community that came to speak and share with us about their culture, traditions and holidays. I look forward to our students having more opportunity to learn from each other’s diverse backgrounds and to being able to provide the recognition of the holiday of Eid.
I have added the meeting here in case you wanted to see for yourself!
Please know the discussion about Full Day K is ongoing and of utmost importance to the board. We are working together to make the best decisions for the entire community.
Thank you again!
I am so pleased to be able to announce that I have won the seat to serve on the Downingtown Area School District as the director for Region 8.
I appreciate being able to meet so many in the community and learn from all of you. Thank you for those that supported me and my campaign- those that waved my face all over and those that passed a friend and quietly spread the word. I am here to work with you. Those that did not vote for me, I am here to work for you as well and I will keep listening. I will always hear all voices and work towards what is best for all the students, family, faculty and community.
Thanks for trusting me with this important responsibility. I look forward to working together to keep DASD moving forward as the excellent district it is known to be.
I was looking for a festive graphic to share for those who celebrate Diwali. After reading
my friend Madhu’s post, I thought I could honor her culture more by sharing this post.
The more we know, the more we can do!
Happy Diwali to those who celebrate, and to those that wonder what this day is about….this is for you!
Yesterday was amazing! I saw and met so many welcoming community members. STAY TUNED: Results are not complete yet…I would be honored to represent you as your next DASD School Board Director for Region 8.
This day has been a very long time coming. When I responded this week to an article for the DLN, I explained that I had been working towards this election since I started teaching in 2008. I have a passion for education of children and myself alike. I knew then that this is the perfect role for me.
I am a team player, I listen with an open mind and hear all positions on a topic. I work well in a diverse group of stakeholders and have been praised for that in business. I want the best of education for every child, and I believe we need to hear all the voices - loud and silent. I want each and every student to feel cared for when they arrive at school each day and know that “we’ve got you”. I want want each and every student to know they are accepted. I have high expectations for all of us, community members, administration, teachers and students. We can do great things!
While tomorrow has an clear outcome…it isn’t a win or lose for me. I have won no matter what. I have learned so much, met incredible candidates and members of our community. I have walked miles of my town that I never knew were here. I have heard stories and concerns and I have grown.
No matter the outcome, there is work to be done.
Thank you to the incredible supporters of my campaign. I am grateful for your help and dedication. Thank you to the voters of WB2, WB4 and EC2. I hope to see you tomorrow! Stop and say hello!
Do not put a ballot in the mail anymore…your ballot won’t be in time to be counted. Walk it in to voter services, consider a drop box, or bring all of the pieces you were mailed directly to your polling place.

Polls are open Tuesday November 2nd from 7am-8pm. Most precincts will have poll greeting volunteers ready with stickers and candy!
