A hike to Woodbourne to check out the newish purple blazed trail. This was an awesome hike. Old growth hemlocks, wildflowers, lots of birds, beaver dam, creeks, ferns, and meadows. This preserve has remarkable biodiversity. There was a superbloom of water lilies, and it was impressive. Woodbourne is a special place, and it was good to hike among the giant trees again.

Looking for a new loop to backpack? Check out the Cornplanter Loop! I hope to hike it this year.

The maps are sequenced clockwise from Tracy Ridge. The loop is about 40-45 miles and connects a variety of trails in the Allegheny National Forest, Allegany State Park, and Bradford Watershed lands, where the Marilla Trail System is located. I've not hiked all these trails yet. The ones I have hiked are very scenic. This loop was first proposed by the Tuna Valley Trail Association.

This loop is unique in that it's in two states, PA and NY. There are lakes, big rocks, old growth forests, and scenic streams.

These trails are maintained by volunteers with the North Country Trail, Finger Lakes Trail, Keystone Trails Association, and Tuna Valley Trail Association.

Northwest PA has some beautiful trails. These trails need more hikers. Get out there and explore somewhere different!

Rugged, off trail hikes up Tumbling, Black, and Paint Runs, tributaries of Stony Fork in Tioga State Forest. Paint Run in particular was impressive. Lots of waterfalls, gorges, cascades, slides, pools, and grottos. Explore PA's public lands.
