Great to see State Senator Mullica and State Rep Cardwell at the Common Sense Institute Colorado event yesterday morning. They were the panelists providing a legislative recap.

There's lots of work ahead for our state, especially towards making Colorado a more business friendly state again. These policies' effects trickle down into our cities and ultimately impact our local economies and residents' livelihood.

Looking forward to collaborating with our legislators to create more economic opportunity for our state and for Thornton.

Good morning Thornton!

Several Councilmembers are in DC today and tomorrow meeting with various federal agencies and our Congressional delegation/staff to advocate for funding for our city.

First stop is the Department of Justice's COPS (Office of Community Oriented Policing Services)!

Thank you to Scouting Colorado Troop 337 for showing up in Thornton this morning to partner with our Forestry Team!

This group of young volunteers is making a difference in our community today by doing important fire mitigation work in our open spaces.

Thornton is better and safer because of this open space clean up.

Thank you to the scouts, troop leaders, and volunteers! Truly appreciate the work you're doing here and across Colorado.

What places have you visited in Colorado or around the country that made you think, “Thornton could use something like this”?

I’m curious which businesses and restaurants you'd want here.

I'm also curious about places you've seen that combine food, local business, public gathering, outdoor seating, events, markets, walkability, and a unique identity.

Stanley Marketplace in Aurora is one example locally.

Others around the country include places like Pearl in San Antonio, City Market in Kansas City, Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Findlay Market in Cincinnati, Optimist Hall in Charlotte, and Sawmill Market in Albuquerque.

Looking forward to hearing your input.

“It’s our duty to remember the sacrifices of those who paid the ultimate price. They gave up two lives - the one they lived and the one they would have lived.” - Retired Marine General James Mattis

Today is not about our Active Duty Military.

Today is not about our Veterans.

Memorial Day is about remembering and honoring our Military Servicemembers who lost their lives for our country.

This morning, we were able to do that.

Thank you so much to all that joined Councilman Devin Byrd, City of Thornton and me this morning for our coffee meet-up, including Mayor Jan Kulmann, City of Thornton. We not only enjoyed conversation together, but we also took a moment as a community to honor and remember the 8 fallen Military Servicemembers from Thornton.

This morning was even more special because Tom Wykstra, father of fallen soldier, PFC Jake Wykstra, joined us and shared stories about his son. Grateful to have had him with us.

Thank you to Thornton resident, Tim Hardy, who played the bagpipes for us as well.

Today, as we remember them and speak their names, let's renew our promise to live lives worthy of their sacrifice.

To be better citizens.

To be better neighbors.

And to be a stronger, more united community.
