May 16, 2017 — a day that forever changed many lives.

Today, we honor and remember Mason Moore, whose courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 💙

While Mason’s End of Watch was on May 16, 2017, his legacy continues to live on every single day — through his family, through the Mason Moore Foundation, and through the community that continues to carry his name and memory forward with love and purpose.

We remember his sacrifice, but we also remember the man he was: someone who loved deeply, served faithfully, and made those around him better.

End of Watch: May 16, 2017
Forever remembered. Forever loved. Never forgotten.

Today we are proud to recognize Summer Griffis and Shawn Crawford for successfully completing their probationary training and earning their place as full firefighters with the Three Forks Fire Department.

Over the past year, they’ve put in the time, effort, and commitment it takes to learn, support the team, and show up when it matters. From training nights to real calls, they have proven they are ready for the responsibility that comes with the badge.

Please join us in congratulating Summer and Shawn on this achievement!

Three Forks firefighters responded to a small smoldering grass fire that was quickly contained. While this incident was quicklyput out, it serves as an important reminder of how quickly fire can spread, even from something small.

Please use extra caution when conducting any controlled burns. Always check weather conditions beforehand, avoid burning on windy days, and never leave a fire unattended. Make sure you have a reliable water source, tools on hand, and completely extinguish your burn, stir the ashes, soak the area thoroughly, and check it multiple times to ensure it is cold to the touch.

Taking a few extra precautions can prevent a small burn from turning into a dangerous situation. Help us keep our community safe.

Every month, our firefighters take the time to complete a full truck check, one of the most important parts of the job that often goes unseen.
This isn’t just a quick once over. Every tool, hose, medical bag, and piece of equipment is inspected, tested, and accounted for. From ensuring engines are running properly to confirming life-saving gear is ready at a moment’s notice, these checks help guarantee we can respond without hesitation when an emergency call comes in.

Emergencies don’t wait, and neither can we. These monthly checks are about preparation, accountability, and making sure that when our community needs us most, we’re ready to deliver.

It’s all part of the commitment to keeping our crews safe and our community protected.

Prescribed burn notice -

The Forest Service is planning a 330-acre prescribed burn two miles southwest of Helena off of Grizzly Gulch road on Thursday, April 9. The burn may extend into Friday, April 10 depending on conditions.

The Mini-Horse prescribed burn will incorporate lands between Show-Me-the-Horse Trail and Mini Ridge Trail systems. Trail users should choose alternative routes during burn operations on Thursday/Friday.

Please drive slow on Grizzly Gulch Road during this time period as fire personnel will be accessing the site along this road and visibility may be reduced. Residents and visitors in Helena may see/smell smoke during this window into the weekend.
