Friends of Steadfast, we specialize in rehabilitation of native wildlife but since relocating we have helped neighboring animal controls and police with abuse/neglect cases. We are desperately needing help to cover expenses for these intakes, for feed, add on enclosures, veterinary care, hay, and shelters. Some little souls leave paw prints on our hearts that will never fade, and Cubby, you were one of those special souls. ❤️

You were more than just a sweet boy. You were loved beyond words, treasured beyond measure, and a little light that made life brighter just by being here. Your precious face, your tiny paws, and that sweet little soul of yours will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

It’s never easy saying goodbye to someone so small who leaves behind such a BIG piece of your heart. We wish we could hold you one more time, kiss that sweet face, and tell you just how much you mean to us.

Run free, our precious Cubby. May you be surrounded by endless sunshine, soft places to rest, and all the love in the world. Until we meet again, you will always be our sweet boy, forever loved and never forgotten. 🌈🐾

Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can mean everything to an animal.

Imagine driving down a quiet road and seeing a turtle slowly making its way across the pavement. Or spotting a deer trying to cross the road to reach the other side. Most of us are in a hurry. We have places to be, work to finish, and people waiting for us. But for a few seconds, we have a choice. We can be patient and give that animal a chance to get to safety.

Wild animals do not understand traffic lights, speed limits, or the dangers of busy roads. They are simply moving through the world, looking for food, searching for shelter, or trying to reach a familiar place. Sometimes, the road we use every day stands right in their path.

That is why slowing down matters. A few seconds of patience could help prevent a collision and save a life. And if it is safe to do so, giving an animal room to cross is a simple way to show compassion.

We may never know where that deer is going or where that little turtle needs to be. But we do know that they are living beings, too. They feel fear. They need safety. They deserve the chance to keep living.

Kindness does not always require a big gesture. Sometimes, it means waiting a little longer. Sometimes, it means choosing patience when nobody is watching. And sometimes, it means remembering that we share this world with creatures who have no idea how dangerous our roads can be.

Of course, never stop suddenly or put yourself or others in danger. Slow down when it is safe, stay alert, and give wildlife space.

The next time an animal crosses your path, remember that getting to the other side might mean everything to them.
