Today, the Ocean County Board of Commissioners remember the heroes of D-Day, whose bravery and determination helped to liberate Europe and bring about a new era of peace. May their courage and sacrifices made on D-Day continue to inspire us.

Honored to stop by the Ocean County Airport this morning to wish Tim Chopp, President of the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation, and the crew of the Spirit of Freedom safe travels as they departed for the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s World War II Weekend Air Show in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Spirit of Freedom is more than a historic aircraft. As one of the aircraft that supported the Berlin Airlift, the Spirit of Freedom serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and determination that defined that mission.

Preserving and sharing this history helps educate future generations and ensures the legacy of these heroes is never forgotten. Wishing Tim and the entire crew a successful weekend as they continue inspiring audiences across the country.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or the unofficial start of summer. It is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy each day were secured by Americans who gave everything in defense of this country.

We remember the fallen. We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families who carry their memory forward each day.

In Ocean County, and across our nation, may we never forget the debt we owe to those who wore the uniform and never came home.

May God bless our fallen heroes, their families, our veterans, and the United States of America.

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners marked Memorial Day 2026 with a wreath laying at the County’s veterans’ memorial in front of 101 Hooper Avenue. The County’s cemeteries are the final resting place of veterans from the Revolutionary War through to the War on Terror.

This weekend, we remember and honor those brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and kept our nation and our families free.

Today, we were proud to celebrate Arbor Day in Ocean County with the Ocean County Shade Tree Commission, Parks and Recreation, and Cultural and Heritage Commission.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as we planted a Liberty Tree to mark America’s 250th anniversary!

Liberty Trees were powerful symbols during the American Revolution. They were places where communities gathered in support of freedom and independence. Today, we continue that tradition by planting a tree that will grow for generations to come, serving as a living reminder of both our history and our responsibility to protect the natural beauty of Ocean County.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our Department of Buildings and Grounds for their work in planting and maintaining this tree.🌳

Happy Arbor Day!

I recently had the opportunity to join Meals on Wheels for another ride-along, helping deliver meals to some of our senior residents here in Ocean County.

It was an incredibly meaningful experience. Beyond providing a warm meal, this program offers something just as important: connection. I had the chance to spend time with several residents, hear their stories, and share in some truly special conversations along the way.

Programs like Meals on Wheels are essential. They ensure that our seniors are not only nourished, but also supported, checked in on, and reminded that they are valued members of our community.

Thank you to the dedicated team and volunteers who make this work possible every single day. Your compassion, generosity, and commitment do not go unnoticed.
