This afternoon Santa made his annual stop in the fire District. Unfortunately due to a fire call a couple streets might have been missed but we did have the opportunity to make a few special stops. The first was Hannah, who’s been sick and unable to get out to see Santa. The second was to the Diehl family, who’s father Tom was a town police officer and passed away a few years ago.
The Kenilworth fire company would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas, happy holidays and a happy and safe new year!

Getzville Fire Company

The thoughts and prays of the entire Kenilworth fire company are with the Getzville fire department as they mourn their loss.

Press Release
Line of Duty Death
Irving Isenberg
12/17/1963-11/1/2019

November 1, 2019 - The following statement is from Daniel Cownie, Assistant Chief of the Getzville Fire Company.

It is with profound sadness and heartache that the Getzville Fire Company family announces the passing of our friend and colleague, Irving Isenberg. Irv was a member of the Getzville Fire Company for 29 years and held the offices of Fire Chief from 2007-2011 and President from 2016-2018. Irv was a part of a state-wide mutual aid deployment to Ground Zero after the September 11th attacks. Irv was one of four Getzville firefighters stationed at Albany Street and West Street, a mere block away from Ground Zero. After being diagnosed with job-related cancer from his heroic efforts in lower Manhattan, Irv's last few weeks were spent with family and friends as he battled until the very end. Irv was surrounded by the ones he loved, and was in the thoughts and prayers of his friends, coworkers and the many lives that he touched over his 35-year career as a first responder.

Irv leaves behind his loving wife, Lisa; his two sisters Susan Boyar, Ruth Lipsitz; his mother Alice Isenberg; his stepchildren Jeffrey Costa, Aaron (Brittany) Costa, and his granddaughter Olivia Costa.

Arrangements will be forthcoming.

"Red" Porch Light Vigil
We are asking the community to turn on your porch light and use a red bulb to honor Past Chief Isenberg and all firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty for the duration of November.

The power of wishes:

Yesterday, Wish Kid Alex saw our Facebook post regarding the Fill-A-Boot with Kenilworth Vol Fire Co. # 1 and wanted to contribute his own donation.

He went to the location, but unfortunately missed our firefighters due to timing. So, next stop - his family drove to their department.

Alex wanted to donate towards our "Summer of Wishes" campaign because he had his very own wish granted earlier this year.

Not only were the firefighters so delighted to see him, they let him try on some gear and took him for a spin in the truck 🚒

When our community comes together to help grant wishes, incredible things happen! We like to believe our "wish stars" align for so many beautiful moments, including this one ✨

This morning the Kenilworth fire fighters were out holding a boot drive for Make A Wish. Shortly after we returned we had a special visit from our new friend Alex. Alex wanted to donate because he received a wish earlier this year from Make A Wish. To thank him we took him for a special ride out on our truck.
A big thank you to everyone who donated to the cause!

Congratulations Kenilworth Vol. Fire Co. # 1 on 100 years of service to your community. I only wished I could have brought up my father, Richard Bromley Sr., Past member, as well as myself, former Torchboy & firefighting career stated at Kenilworth. Are there any momentous from the celebration, we could get, like shirts, hats, or patches ? I will put it with the copy of the printed program from the 50th years of service celebration.
With great sadness, I announce the passing of Kenilworth Life Member and my father Fred Jelonek, in Franklin, TN on February 28th. He was 95 years old. Services will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. He always had fond memories of the fire hall and his fellow volunteers. I always remember him running furiously around the Grandview corner whenever he heard the siren.
Congrats on 100 years.
Congratulations on your Anniversary.
Hey Kenilworth!! Can I come to your next Company meeting to talk briefly about the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the work we are doing to build homes for severely injured veterans in WNY and across the country?? We are holding our 3rd Annual Buffalo Tunnel to Towers 5k on Sept 8th. This is the largest 9/11 Remembrance event in WNY! Every year we have a huge First Responder presence and competition between fire departments. Let me know when I can come and meet with you.
