Tonawanda Grain Mill Implosion

In the late 1990s, the TTDC played a key role in developing plans to demolish the former Eastern State Grain Mill on Military Road. Follow this link to a video on YouTube of the final implosion on May 21, 2000.

As a final phase of the demolition of this Tonawanda, NY grain mill, the remaining structures were imploded on May 21, 2000.

We are excited that Unifrax has selected the North Youngmann Commerce Center for construction of a new 76,000-square-foot plant. This investment follows an expansion of their manufacturing facility on Fire Tower Drive and relocation of their worldwide headquarters to the Riverview Solar Technology Park.

For the second time in as many months, Unifrax has selected the Town of Tonawanda for a major expansion effort.

Nexus Natural Gas, a consortium of seven companies in the Town of Tonawanda, will receive a $570,000 grant from the New York Power Authority to help fund construction of a CNG fueling station. The station will allow member companies to convert the 24 trucks in their fleets to natural gas.

The consortium includes Guard Construction and Contracting, Swift River Associates, Speed Global Services, Pariso Trucking, Niagara Metals, O and K Truck Repair and Triad Recycling and Energy.
