Several years ago a young man walked thru our doors and began his life as a first responder, although he left us and moved on to bigger and better things he has continued to be a friend of ours. Today he achieved one of his dreams by obtaining his New York State Paramedic Certification. Congratulations Darren Evens we are extremely proud of you!

It's fun to decorate for the holidays, but decorations can increase your risk of a home fire. As you deck the halls this season, be fire smart:

🕯️ Keep candles 12 inches from flammable objects
🎄 Keep your tree at least 3 ft. away from heat sources
🔎 Inspect holiday lights before using them

Great job by all the volunteers. This was the most frustrating fire having to send crews out in the dark and not knowing the size of the fire. Monday I was still with the Forest Rangers working on some dead trees in the black that were still burning. I got to work with the Rangers Fire Investigators and they found a unattended campfire as the point of origin.

Second day. 6 am Same amazing turnout of volunteers. Did loose one summer home and several small sheds. Crews were able to save around 5 other summer homes in this congested area with homes built within a few feet of the state forest land.
NYS Forest Rangers and DEC have assigned special Wild Land Fire Investigators to search for the cause and orgin. They worked today and will be back at in the AM.

Just got home from the Caneadea woods fire. This is the fire line that burned tonight approximately 175 acres. In my 45 years in this part of the country the biggest woods fire may have been 25 acres usally less than 10. Great job by all . The Forest Rangers and I will be back at 9am to run the line again.
