⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ DO NOT STAY AT PLAZA INN ⚠️
My trailer caught fire and burnt to the ground in Lakewood Mobile Home Park last Saturday night and I lost EVERYTHING. Thank you so much to the Red Cross for their help by paying for me to be in a hotel room for a week and another thanks to a woman named Tina who delivered groceries and then just a few days later paid for the room an extra night so that I could check out on a weekday, instead of Sunday when everything is closed AND to a man named Ernie for also delivering groceries, hygiene, clothes and shoes on day 2 ❤️
⚠️ DO NOT RENT A ROOM AT THE PLAZA INN ⚠️
I can't stress this enough Topekans !!! I paid EXTRA for the week in order to get a 'kitchenette' in which the stovetop burners didn't work and Management never came to fix it any of the times they said they would! They really do have some decent rooms out there but I would have preferred it if they would have evicted the previous tenants before renting out the room again! I never had my phone handy to take a picture of the cockroaches running up and down the walls before chasing them down and stomping them but I'm assuming they've lived there for a while by looking at the pictures of the dead babies that house keeping never cleaned out of the freezer alone!
The cockroaches were NOTHING compared to their roommates I found at the end of my stay! I knew that the itchy bites covering my legs and arms weren't mosquito bites as everyone was saying! Not once did I EVER see a mosquito in my room the entire length of my stay but I also DID CHECK the mattresses and never seen anything out of the ordinary either... Until my last night/morning there!!! I actually had my phone in my hand to take a couple of pictures before smashing this big ass, now DEAD BED BUG onto the sheet of the the bed I'd been sleeping in 🤬🤬🤬 and then proceeding to get up and get everything packed up to go nowhere 🙄🥺
💯 NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE GOOD NEWS 💯
Although there is nothing that any of the agencies in Topeka can do to help me continue to pay for a motel room RIGHT NOW, I am working with Community Action and they are going to help me get back into housing BUT I was told that they have been short staffed since the onset of COVID-19, so it's taking longer than normal and could be a few weeks. Also, the Salvation Army has said that if I can find a place to rent, they will be able to help pay my first months rent if needed and that they have resources to help furnish a place when I do move in.
🙏 🙏 🙏 NOW FOR MY REQUEST 🙏 🙏 🙏
🙏 🙏 🙏 CALLING ALL LANDLORDS 🙏 🙏 🙏
I desperately need to find a landlord who will not only rent to me while only receiving my Social Security payments each month until I get settled back into a place, get back to work and have an additional, regular income again. I would need this landlord to be willing to accept the first months rent from Salvation Army and allow me to pay down the deposit. I would prefer it if they were able to work with Community Action/Section 8 for the continued housing assistance BUT I do also have my 4 final months of KERA payments available if a landlord would be willing to apply for that as well! I know that this is a lot to ask of anyone but I would rather ask for someone to help me get into a permanent home AND allow them to be compensated for it from these agencies, than to ask for someone to help me continue to pay for a motel room and take money out of their pockets 💯
I wish I could say this is the first book I've ever written but I do thank everyone who did take the time to read it, I appreciate you all ❤️
