Kansas Representative Bob Lewis has also been instrumental in pushing for legislation that will make clergy in Kansas mandated reporters of abuse. Thank you for all the work you continue to do to protect children in Kansas.
REP. LEWIS’S WORK ON BEHALF OF CHILDREN AND HIS SUPPORT FOR THE WESTERN KANSAS CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER
Both as a legislator and an attorney, Rep. Lewis is at the forefront of efforts to protect our children from abuse of all kinds.
LEGISLATION TO ENLARGE THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS
In 2023, his first year as a legislator, he worked on legislation to eliminate the criminal statute of limitations (SOL) for s*xual abuse of children and to extend the SOL by ten years to the victim’s 31st birthday for civil claims.
LEGISLATION TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL TO ENCOURAGE SU***DE
In 2024, he drafted legislation that made it illegal to encourage su***de, a growing online menace, especially targeting young people.
CALEB’S LAW -- LEGISLATION TO EXPAND AND INCREASE PENALTIES FOR SEXTORTION
In 2026, he sponsored Caleb’s law, which expanded the definition and increased penalties for s*xtortion, a growing online threat to young people.
All three bills passed with broad bipartisan support and were signed by the governor.
REP. LEWIS’S WORK AS A LAWYER FOR CHILDREN
As a lawyer, Rep. Lewis has dedicated his practice to advocating on behalf of children. He has represented numerous child-s*x-abuse and child-pornography (or child-s*x-abuse- material (“CSAM”)) survivors in actions against their perpetrators and the institutions that enabled the abusers. His clients have included victims of Jeffrey Epstein, as well as Spencer Elden, the Nirvana Baby.
THIS FRIDAY REP. LEWIS WILL ADVOCATE FOR CSAM VICTIMS OF APPLE
Friday of this week, Rep. Lewis will appear at a hearing in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, to plead a case on behalf of CSAM victims against Apple for its knowing and willful failure to employ readily available technology that would substantially reduce the huge volume of child s*x abuse materials that are distributed on and through its platform.
SUPPORT FOR THE WESTERN KANSAS CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER
The Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center is doing incredible work for the children of Western Kansas. It provides forensic interviews and advocacy, trauma-informed therapy, and medical services to victims of child abuse and their families, all without cost.
Rep. Lewis was therefore pleased to support the WKCAC at its “Denim and Diamonds” annual fundraiser on Saturday night. He urges anyone concerned about the substantial child abuse in our community to support the Center and the incredible work it is doing for our kids.
They are, after all, our future.
