Maine GOP Statement on Supreme Court Decision
Re: RCV Expansion

AUGUSTA – Maine Republican Party Chairman Jim Deyermond issued the
following statement following the decision of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court
The Court found the expansion of RCV into Maine General Elections for State
Offices.

“Today is a good day,” said Chairman Jim Deyermond. “The Constitution of
Maine is preserved and respected, and this decision provides clarity against
efforts to pollute our state elections with Ranked-Choice Voting.”

“Even in times when we often mistrust our institutions, we can rely upon our
Constitution and deliberative Justices to render the correct decision,”
Deyermond continued.

“We are proud to have rallied our forces to this fight and grateful for the
support of RNC Chairman Joe Gruters and his team for their leadership in
this cause,” said Deyermond. “This decision should, finally, end the
attempts from the radical left to force RCV into Maine’s elections for
Governor, Senate, and House.”
