📢 PUBLIC HEARINGS ANNOUNCED FOR HOFFMAN FALLS WIND PROJECT PILOT
The Madison County IDA will be hosting 4 public hearings for the proposed PILOT agreement for the Hoffman Falls Wind Project.
The project would include up to 18 turbines across Fenner, Nelson, Eaton and Smithfield. The PILOT application requests approximately $30.4 million in tax exemptions over 20 years and states that the project would create only two permanent jobs.
The Madison County Board of Supervisors earlier this week submitted formal comment asking the the IDA to deny the proposed PILOT agreement. The Board in the past has opposed PILOT agreements for other solar and wind projects in the County.
The Board believes the requested exemptions are disproportionate to the project’s long-term economic benefits. The resolution also cites concerns about public safety and natural resources, including possible interference with a Madison County 911 communications tower.
MCIDA will make the final decision. Residents can provide feedback at four upcoming public hearings:
