Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to an unusual rescue this afternoon. This cat had been trapped in a tree for a few days and was very exhausted. The cat was successfully rescued and returned safely to its owners.

Great members make for a great department and higher level of service for the community! There’s more to the fire dept then just fighting fires. There is always work to be done! One of our members came in on his off time and cleaned up all the trucks! If you would like to be a part of this department please let us know! There is a job to fit all people that have a desire to serve!!

A quick response by the Spring Hill Fire Dept and multiple other stations allowed for the fire to be extinguished quickly. Upon extinguishing the fire, firefighters noticed inconsistencies and the Gibson County Sheriff Dept and TBI were called in to investigate. The great work of these agencies allowed for great preservation of evidence and a speedy apprehension of the suspect!

GIBSON COUNTY – An investigation by TBI special agents and fire investigators and Gibson County first responders into a residential fire over the weekend has resulted in the arrest of a Bells man. …

If you have either of these items laying around and would like to donate to the fire Dept please let me know. Has to be plastic drink flats, brand does not matter, and plastic coffee cans with handle. These items are simple tools but we will be repurposing them for Grain Bin Rescue as opposed to buying the fancy tools that do the same thing in an attempt to save money for other needs for the department.

Spring Hill Vol. Fire Dept Chief , Drew Norvell and Captain, Chris Mackey were invited to attend the North Central West TN Grain Bin Safety/Rescue Awareness Training coordinated by UT Extension/TN AgrAbility and conducted by TN Association of Rescue Squads. Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Gibson, Henry, Obion, Weakley ag producers and rescue personnel participated in the training. This training helped better prepare the Dept to deal with a potentially deadly Hazzard that is possible in any of the numerous grain bins in our coverage area. By attending this class not only did we receive training to better prepare the department but we also will receive the equipment needed to preform said rescues through a grant. Currently in Gibson County there is only 1 grain rescue tube in the county, upon the completion of this course the county will receive 21 to be dispersed throughout the county! This was an awesome training that would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of many people and the donations of numerous agencies coming together to better serve this great state.

The Spring Hill Fire Dept is looking into expanding the building. The expansion of the building will allow for more room for our department to continue to grow. We hope to add an additional tanker, a support truck and a boat but our current building is full. With this in mind, we are looking for ideas from the community about good fundraiser ideas or recommendations on contractors. If you have any ideas or thoughts feel free to contact me. My schedule can be a little hectic so if I don’t answer leave me a voicemail and I’ll call you back.

Sincerely
