I Loved You Enough…
to ask where you were going, with whom,
and what time you would be home.

I Loved You Enough…
to insist that you save your money and buy a bike for yourself even
though we could afford to buy one for you.

I Loved You Enough…
to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I Loved You Enough…
to make you take a Milky Way back to the drugstore (with a bite out of it) and tell
the clerk, “I stole this yesterday and want to pay for it.”

I Loved You Enough…
to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a
job that would have taken 15 minutes.

I Loved You Enough…
to let you see anger, disappointment and tears in my eyes.
Children must learn that their parents aren’t perfect.

I Loved You Enough…
to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even
when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.

But most of all, I Loved You Enough…
to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it. Those were
the most difficult battles of all. I’m glad I won them, because
in the end, you won, too.

🤱 August is National Breastfeeding Month!

This August, we're celebrating the many ways New Jersey communities support breastfeeding parents and families.

The New Jersey Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Authority (NJMIHIA), NJ Supports Breastfeeding, and the New Jersey Breastfeeding Coalition have created a 2026 National Breastfeeding Month Community Calendar featuring nearly 40 events happening across New Jersey throughout August.

From breastfeeding support groups to conversations exploring the history of Black breastfeeding, there's something for everyone interested in learning, connecting, and supporting maternal and infant health.

📅 Explore the full calendar:https://nj.gov/njmihia/documents/resources/2026-National-Breastfeeding-Calendar.pdf

🏥 Are healthcare costs a burden for you or your family? Your voice matters.

The Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs, in partnership with community and healthcare organizations, is seeking input from residents of Atlantic, Cumberland, and Salem counties.

If you're uninsured, underinsured, or have experienced challenges accessing healthcare, you're invited to participate in an in-person or virtual listening session. Your experiences can help shape New Jersey's rural healthcare strategy and improve access to care for families across the region.

✨ Take a Mental Reset This Summer 🌳

Summer is the perfect time to unplug and reconnect with nature.

In Japan, there's a practice called forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), which simply means slowing down and taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. It doesn't require a long hike—just being present.

Whether you're walking through the woods, relaxing in a park, or watching fireflies glow at dusk, spending time in nature can help reduce stress and refresh your mind.

This week, try putting your phone away for a little while and enjoy the simple beauty around you. You might be surprised how much better you feel. 💙

💙 Volunteer Spotlight: Kathy Eckert

For more than five years, Kathy Eckert has been a dedicated Circle of Parents® Facilitator with Parents Inc. of New Jersey, offering encouragement, guidance, and a compassionate listening ear to families in her community.

Kathy's volunteer journey began during a time when she was facing parenting challenges of her own. Through that experience, she discovered the power of peer support—and today, she helps other parents feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Her passion for serving others didn't stop there. Inspired by her work with Parents Inc., Kathy went on to found She Shed Feminine Pantry, a nonprofit that provides essential hygiene products to people in surrounding communities.

When asked what she would say to someone considering volunteering, Kathy's answer was simple:

"Do it! It's very rewarding and insightful."

Thank you, Kathy, for your compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to strengthening families and communities. We are grateful to have you as part of the Parents Inc. family! 💙
