We are seeing a significant increase in cases. Yesterday we had the highest number of positive PCR cases—6,533—that we have seen since January 2021. This surge is most likely due to the Delta and Omicron variants.

With cases rising, and holiday gatherings and travel, we want everyone to protect themselves.

Please, this week before the holidays, stay home if you are sick and get tested before any holiday gatherings—especially if you’ve had any potential exposure.

If you test positive, please stay home.

Testing is currently available at more than 100 sites statewide and we will be adding more by county this week. In addition, we have partnered with Vault on a free, at-home COVID-19 saliva testing program. Some 61,863 tests have already been ordered.

You can request a free test kit by visiting learn.vaulthealth.com/nj/. According to Vault, results are available 24 to 48 hours after a sample arrives at the lab.

To find a testing location near you, please visit https://covid19.nj.gov/testing.

Minnesota and Vault Health have teamed up to offer free at-home COVID-19 saliva testing for people who believe they need to be tested, with or without symptoms.

A CDC study finds adults whose health care providers recommended a COVID-19 vaccination were more likely to get vaccinated than those who didn’t get a recommendation, including among populations with lower COVID-19 vaccination rates. A provider recommendation also was associated with making patients more confident in the safety of the vaccines and their importance in protecting them against COVID-19. Talk with your health care provider if you have questions about COVID-19 vaccines that can help protect you and those around you. Learn more: https://bit.ly/mm7050a1.
