On the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, GPAX will present a webinar on the growing danger of global nuclear war resulting from expanding regional conflicts involving the U.S. Speakers will address the history of the nuclear weapons threat, starting with the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks and growing through the Cold War until the current period of extreme danger. The related risks of reckless expansion of nuclear power plants will also be addressed.

Speakers:
Madelyn Hoffman is a peace activist and a prominent member of the Green Party of New Jersey. She was a Green Party candidate for public office for several years, including runs for the U.S. Senate and Governor of New Jersey. She is the Co-Chair of the GPAX committee.
Haig Hovaness is a peace activist with a professional background in information technology. He is the Co-Chair of the Peace Action Committee of the Green Party of the United States (GPAX).
Timmon Milne Wallis is the Executive Director of NuclearBan.US. He holds a PhD in Peace Studies from Bradford University. He has served as executive director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, and he has directed peace-building projects in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Georgia, Myanmar, Chechnya, Croatia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and South Sudan.
David Kraft is Founder and Director of The Nuclear Energy Information Service or NEIS.org based in Chicago. For over 40 years, Kraft has provided educational programs, conferences, and presentations about the nuclear industry and its effects. He created the series “Know Nukes” in cooperation with CAN-TV Chicago and co-founded The Radiation Monitoring Project designed for communities struggling with radioactive contamination.
