Effective May 4, 2020 Gilchrist County offices and departments will resume normal operations. We will continue with safe distancing measures and limit access to the courthouse and other county offices as necessary to provide a safe environment for our residents and employees. We strongly encourage everyone to utilize online services when available.
• Gilchrist County Boat Ramps will be opening to the public.
• Hart Springs Campground – Opening May 1, 2020
• Hart Springs Day Park – Opening May 20, 2020
Please remember to avoid congregating and practice social distancing.
As a community, state, nation, and world, our lives have been turned upside down for the past six weeks by the Covid-19 Virus. Our citizens have stepped up and we have “flattened the curve” by following the CDC protocols and the Governor’s Executive Orders. The impact to people’s jobs, businesses, and the overall economy have been significant. The Governor’s “Phase 1 Restart of Florida” order #20-112 will be effective as of May 4, 2020, respectively, Gilchrist County will begin to take steps to move forward from this crisis.
We will continue to recommend all CDC guidelines including:
• Wash your hands often
• Avoid close contact
• Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others
• Cover coughs and sneezes
• Clean and disinfect
• If you or your children have signs of sickness (fever, cough, etc.) – please stay home or call your medical provider for further direction.
• Social distancing should be practiced.
Thank you again for your help in defeating this pandemic and helping support our local businesses during these difficult times. We appreciate everyone doing their part in keeping Gilchrist County safe!

Effective Immediately-The Gilchrist County Santa Fe Park located on North SR 47 is closed. All other Gilchrist County boat ramps are for watercraft launching only.

As of today we are still on for May 2nd Tournament but we are kind of taking a wait and see attitude...........we should know more in a week or so. The river is coming down now so it might just be perfect for bass fishing.......Please stay safe in the meantime and stay tuned.
Hart Springs Park & Campground

In abundance of caution of COVID-19, Hart Springs Park is closed until further notice. If you currently have a reservation for a shelter or pavilion, please call (352) 463-3444.
The Campground will remain open for existing reservations. We are not accepting any new reservations at this time.
We apologize for any issues this may cause. We will update when anything changes.
Upon the CDC's recommendation the 2020 Trenton Quilt & Artisan Festival, scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled for this year. Next year's Festival will be March 20, 2021.

On behalf of the County Commission, Thank You, for all the comments in reference to the new rates at Hart Springs. As in any democracy the peoples’ voice should be heard and represented. The Commission will be readdressing the new rates at the March 12, 2020 board meeting. The meeting will start at 2 pm, 210 South Main Street, Trenton. If you are unable to attend the meeting and would like to provide any comments please email to [email protected].
Just a note on charging a local resident fee. Due to the grant funds that have been received to make improvements at Hart Springs the county is required to charge the same fee for anyone visiting the park regardless of where their residence is located.

"It's Santa! I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!"
We felt just like Buddy the Elf last weekend as we bumped into Santa Clause at Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park! But the reindeer aren't fans of warm weather, so he swapped them out for some mermaids and ditched the sleigh for a paddleboard!
For the good boys and girls in the water, Santa agreed to partner up with KOTS and hand out treasure that we found on the bottom of the springs and rivers. If you're lucky, you might even meet Santa on one of our next cleanups!
From all of us at KOTS to all of yours MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
