Lots of people say term limits would mean losing valuable institutional knowledge. But new members of Congress rarely start from zero. Half of U.S. House members already served as state legislators, and 80% held some kind of prior political office before ever reaching Congress, according to the New York Times. The knowledge was never really the issue, it's the reluctance to admit when something isn't working. That's what keeps Congress members defending their old decisions instead of actually solving problems. Term limits don't erase experience, they create room for fresh perspectives. Term limits wouldn't fix all of America's problems but saying we would just be removing experience, that has not produced results just keeps Congress stagnant. 83% of Americans want term limits for Congress it is time for change.
