Tryon Volunteer Fire Department

Don’t cancel your plans, just stay weather aware folks.

Please stay weather aware today. Our chances for severe weather ramp up this afternoon after 3:30pm. We have been briefed by our Lincoln County Emergency Management team and are taking the appropriate preparations in the case of a severe weather event.

Good morning. I was contacted by P-T Schools transportation and asked to relay a message. They ask that if your child misses the bus at their stop, that you take them to the next stop down the line. They DO NOT want you pulling up behind the bus and stopping and letting your children out. Reason being the driver CANNOT see what is going on directly behind the bus and fear for your child’s safety.

Also NEXT school year (2019-2020) the bus stop will NO LONGER be at the Tryon Fire Department it WILL BE up at the 4-way stop sign. This is for 2 reasons. First due to Pearl of Grace Ranch has placed a privacy fence up taking away the majority of the parking away and this causes vehicles to block the roadway and/or block the entrance to the Fire Department. Second is that we (Town & School) feel it isn’t safe when the children cross SH105 at Oklahoma St, WE feel it is safer to cross at the 4-way stop.

Thanks for your understanding,
Chief Jered Prickett

Good afternoon. We just took a report from a town resident that they received a call from ‭(580) 634-8584‬ identifying themselves as Durant Oklahoma Police Department. The caller was requesting a donation to their agency and in return she would receive a calendar. I have contacted Durant Chief of Police David Houser and he states he was not aware of any fundraising events of that nature taking place with his agency. As always stay vigilant folks, these scammers are becoming smarter and smarter, doing or saying whatever they can to get monies from you. If you have received one of these calls please notify our dispatch at 405-547-5355. I am currently in a class but I will get in touch with you when I’m back in town in the evening.

Remember folks it is now and has always been illegal to burn a trash barrel inside city limits punishable by a $530 fine. Our Fire Department among with Agra FD & Iowa Tribe FD had to respond to an outbuilding on fire today Inside city limits due to an unattended trash barrel that was lit. Luckily a neighbor called it in before the fire spread to the residence and the neighboring property.

03/04/2019

Both Agra & Perkins-Tryon have cancelled schools today due to extremely cold temperatures.

02/26/2019

The water is back on!

02/26/2019

Water pressure should come into normal range within an hour or two. There may be some air in the lines even though we tried to bleed the air at fire hydrants as we brought the water back online.

Thank for your patience.
Jered

02/26/2019

The water is off in town due to a main line break. We will get it back on as soon as possible. Thank you!

01/28/2019

We have had numerous semi trucks disobeying the posted “No Trucks” signs on Oklahoma St. headed to the drilling rig location a mile north. The signs have been torn down 3 different times now. Today within 10 minutes of putting them back up 4 trucks turned onto Oklahoma St from SH105 right at one of the signs. The trucks were stopped and Lincoln County Sheriffs Department Size & Weights Deputy was called. These trucks are tearing our roads up! When asked if they read the 3’x3’ sign where they turned their explanation was “I was just doing what I was told”.

01/22/2019

Who would be interested in having a city wide yard sale in April?

01/15/2019

01/07/2019

Sewer mains are all open and flowing now. I cannot stress enough DO NOT FLUSH BABY WIPES down the toilets!! These DO NOT break down like toilet paper. I pulled probably a five gallon bucket of them out of a stopped up manhole.

01/07/2019

We are aware of the sewer issues with mains being clogged. We have been working since Saturday evening attempting to get them all open. We are hoping that today we get the final two plugs knocked loose to free the system up. With all the rain we had before the ice event last week the ground was already saturated. This caused the rain that fell during the ice event to melt and run off, most of which entered the sewer system and caused the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Jered, Candy & Jessica

01/03/2019

Due to deteriorating road conditions Town Hall will be closing at noon today.

01/03/2019

Due to weather conditions all trash may not be picked up today however Republic Services has advised us that it will be picked up tomorrow.

Please stay home and off the roads as they are beginning to deteriorate rapidly.

12/06/2018

Thank you all and have a Merry Christmas to you all.

11/16/2018

Water pressure should reach normal levels within the hour. We tried to remove most of the air in the lines via flushing at fire hydrants however there may still be a little.

Sorry for the interruption in service.
