We got to pay a visit to a job we did last summer to replace a tree that didn't transplant well and got to see all the growth! I'm still in love with this design even if it was totally out of my comfort zone with the straight lines😆

Full on spring maintenance mode in western Nebraska.

It seems like we're all a little on edge with wind and fire danger. My heart and prayers go out to everyone affected. To all the volunteers and professionals, we can't thank you enough.

Spring in Nebraska is a beautiful thing. Beauty rises from ashes. I'm doing my little part by clearing out dry, dead matter, getting those sprinklers going (even though we've still got freezing temps at night), trimming and shaping shrubs and applying fertilizer and pre-emergent. Signs of renewal and life after a dead season is very symbolic of what we will be celebrating in a few days. A risen King who conquered death. Amen! Hosanna!
The daffodils are already celebrating. Lilacs are budding. Crab apples are getting ready to put on a show. I'm grateful for this season for the awe it creates.

Let's get to planting! These warm days have me antsy for gardening and spring blooms. Start getting your prep work and planning in place. I tend to love creating a new vegetable garden design each spring, then sometimes abandon it halfway through because I end up planting more than I originally have space for. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Spring planting gets easier when you stop using the calendar alone and start watching your weather 🌦️🌱 The best planting time depends on:
🌡️ soil temperature
❄️ your last frost date
☀️ how quickly your area warms up
Cool-season crops can usually go in earlier, while warm-season crops do better once nights stay mild.
That is why one gardener can be planting tomatoes while another still needs to wait a few weeks, even in the same month.
