Rebecca Zapien for TUSD Candidate for Tucson Unified School District Governing Board, 2022 I’m a third generation teacher, proud Tucson High graduate and TUSD parent.

As a teacher trainer, I work with TUSD everyday. I see staff totally committed to supporting each child and making the most of their resources so students thrive. It’s still not enough. Teachers are leaving the profession in record numbers. Youth mental health is in crisis. I bring a perspective that focuses on the needs of students, families, and staff, so we can work together to be more responsi

ve, creative, and leave behind restrictive thinking that does not serve us. My goals for TUSD are:

-Prioritize teacher and staff retention through dignified salary gains

-Promote student-focused policies and curriculum that support them as unique individuals

-Center the diverse community of families who choose TUSD for quality education
