We've been asked multiple times if Chapel Hill is going host open houses for all the new construction.
They are planning on having staggered open houses at the different locations so people will be able to see all the new facilities. They will probably be in August.
Keep watching, the open houses will be well publicized!

The Toll 49 Project is back in the planning stage. Please support this effort to help development in Chapel Hill. We need this and other infrastructure (such as an integrated sewer system) if we are going to hope to move forward from just being a hodge-podge community of storage buildings and duplexes to seeing real growth from sizeable businesses, restuarants, and development that will be beneficial to all of us. It will pump much needed revenue into our community. Development will LOWER our residential property taxes while INCREASING our property values by sharing the tax base. With Tyler's explosive growth, it will greatly improve traffic flow and access to other areas of the metropolitan area and major highways and alleviate future conjestion and delays.
There are several 'negative Nellies' out there that are anti-growth and spread misinformation about this project. The Toll 49 road will NOT take out churches, school properties, cemetaries or other key properties. For those who are affected by its path, they would be reimbursed at fair market value. The planners of this project are not working in a vacuum. They know what's crucial to this being successful with minimal impact.
Please join us in helping this critical improvement move forward. Educate yourselves on the facts and not wallow in speculation and misinformation. Let's be realistic, sooner or later development will happen. You can either be a positive part of the planning or be left behind and bypassed.

📣 Due to unforeseen inclement weather conditions, the Chapel Hill ISD Bond 2023 groundbreaking ceremonies, originally scheduled for Monday, March 25, 2024, has been postponed.

The ceremony will now take place on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the same locations and times as previously planned. The ceremony will commence at 11:15 AM at the new Junior High School site, followed by a transition to the High School bus loop at 12:15 PM.

If you are planning to attend, please gather at 10:30 AM at Bethel Baptist Church to board the transfer buses. Departure is scheduled for 10:50 AM, so please ensure punctuality to avoid missing the transportation.

On Thursday, February 1, the Bond Oversight Committee met again to review the status of bond projects, bond expenditures, project schedules and the timelines of bond projects. We had 13 persons in attendance.

As we stated initially, we are dedicated to understanding all the intricacies of the many projects approved by the voters, asking questions, and sharing our knowledge with the community. We strive to monitor the projects that were approved by the voters to insure they are built according to the scope presented, completed on schedule, and that bond funds are expended correctly to achieve that goal. Our goal is transparency and an informed community.

In addition to the bond-approved projects, we are also reviewing the non-bond projects, which are school board approved fund balance projects. These projects are being executed in parallel with the bond projects, but funded and tracked separately.

There are two tabs located on the main CHISD webpage which cover the Bond projects and the Non-Bond projects:
https://www.chapelhillisd.org/o/bond
https://www.chapelhillisd.org/page/fundbalanceprojects

The minutes and presentations from each of the B.O.C. meetings have been shared in their entirety on the Chapel Hill District website, under the Bond Updates tab: https://www.chapelhillisd.org/o/bond/page/oversightcommittee

Please take the time to read and review these documents. There is a wealth of information in these documents, and will answer most of the questions you may have. If they don’t, we’ll find out for you.

In addition to the Bond Oversight Committee meeting on February 1, a Special Called Board Meeting was held on Monday, February 12, where the Construction Managers at Risk presented their guaranteed maximum price for the scope of work that was approved in the bond. This is an extremely important step in the ex*****on of the projects, because this is where the Construction Managers have received all their bids and report back to the board the GUARANTEED price that they can build the projects for. We are EXCITED to report that the total Guaranteed Maximum Price for the scope of work approved by the bond is LOWER than the original estimate! This is great news!

Contractors have now begun work and you will begin to see physical progress soon.

This is an exciting time in the life of Chapel Hill. Our students and teachers will be the benefactors of these projects! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to message us at Bulldog Strong, or you can email us at [email protected]. We WILL answer you!

Our next meeting will be held on May 9. You are welcome to attend.

The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like addressed at the meeting, you can email us by noon Thursday at [email protected]. If we don’t have the answer, we WILL get it for you!
