On Thursday, February 1, the Bond Oversight Committee met again to review the status of bond projects, bond expenditures, project schedules and the timelines of bond projects. We had 13 persons in attendance.
As we stated initially, we are dedicated to understanding all the intricacies of the many projects approved by the voters, asking questions, and sharing our knowledge with the community. We strive to monitor the projects that were approved by the voters to insure they are built according to the scope presented, completed on schedule, and that bond funds are expended correctly to achieve that goal. Our goal is transparency and an informed community.
In addition to the bond-approved projects, we are also reviewing the non-bond projects, which are school board approved fund balance projects. These projects are being executed in parallel with the bond projects, but funded and tracked separately.
There are two tabs located on the main CHISD webpage which cover the Bond projects and the Non-Bond projects:

The minutes and presentations from each of the B.O.C. meetings have been shared in their entirety on the Chapel Hill District website, under the Bond Updates tab: https://www.chapelhillisd.org/o/bond/page/oversightcommittee
Please take the time to read and review these documents. There is a wealth of information in these documents, and will answer most of the questions you may have. If they don’t, we’ll find out for you.
In addition to the Bond Oversight Committee meeting on February 1, a Special Called Board Meeting was held on Monday, February 12, where the Construction Managers at Risk presented their guaranteed maximum price for the scope of work that was approved in the bond. This is an extremely important step in the ex*****on of the projects, because this is where the Construction Managers have received all their bids and report back to the board the GUARANTEED price that they can build the projects for. We are EXCITED to report that the total Guaranteed Maximum Price for the scope of work approved by the bond is LOWER than the original estimate! This is great news!
Contractors have now begun work and you will begin to see physical progress soon.
This is an exciting time in the life of Chapel Hill. Our students and teachers will be the benefactors of these projects! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to message us at Bulldog Strong, or you can email us at [email protected]. We WILL answer you!
Our next meeting will be held on May 9. You are welcome to attend.
