At the last Union Mills Conservation Club meeting it was agreed to leave the logs from the trees for the residents that want them. There are plenty so it's time to let people know, the logs are free for the taking. If too many are remaining before the Mill Pond Fest we can have an amazing bonfire for the people of Union Mills, Indiana!

Our building at 3240 Monroe Street is open Monday and Friday 10am-3pm, and Wednesday 10am-6pm, with cold water for anyone who needs respite from the heat this week.

* WHAT...Extended period of dangerously hot conditions with heat
index values up to 105 possible during the afternoon and early
evening hours. Daily high temperatures in the 90s.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and
northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 2 PM EDT /1 PM CDT/ Monday to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/
Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight lows in the mid-70s will offer
limited relief from the heat. Additionally, heat-related impacts
may be heightened due to cooler than normal temperatures these
past two weeks.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

FIREWORKS SHOW at Mill Pond Park!!! This years celebration will be on Sunday July 5th just after sunset. We have a lot to celebrate in Union Mills this year. Not only is it the 250th Anniversary of the USA but also the 80th Anniversary of the Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department as well as the 40th Anniversary of the Mill Pond Fest!!! The Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the event and asking for the generosity of the community to help cover the cost. The Fire Department Volunteers will be onsite to help with parking and an empty boot for us to fill up with donations. If you can, donate early to the NTVFD and indicate your charitable contribution is for the "FIREWORKS"

The Salvation Army - LaPorte, IN is offering summer camps. It is open to any children ages 6-17 who reside in La Porte County. The Salvation Army covers all costs - transportation, lodging, food, and activities. Check out the flyer to see all the options and how to register.

A huge THANK YOU to the LaPorte County Highway Department for taking down an enormous tree that was damaged in the recent wind storms. We appreciate you helping to keep the community safe and the park looking nice.
