Update: Scope at Wilcox will now be held at Fairview today due to power outages. Families have been notified.

Storm check in! Not sure about other parts of Springfield but I know for sure the north end took a beating last night. Me and my crew are good with no damage and our power just came back on about 30 minutes ago.

Both the airport and the APL took major hits last night. If you have the availability to foster an animal, now is the time to do so. You can find more information on their website or page about fostering.

I have not heard any reports of damages to school properties that could affect summer meals, summer school or summer scope. It’s still early though and it’s just now getting light out. I will communicate if I hear differently.

Please stay safe and allow extra time if you have to venture out today. Lots of tree limbs down.

It was a great day celebrating 12 years of hard work and perseverance. We heard some great speeches and saw lots of happy kids as they crossed the stage and the cheers from families was amazing.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! You should be so proud of your accomplishments! Whether you are going to college, trade school, military, work force or are still undecided, remember that your version of success should not be compared to someone else’s version. You will all be successful in life if you work hard and keep chasing your dreams.

It’s so cool when you go to Busch Stadium for a Cubs vs Cards rivalry game and get to see one of our schools performing! The Lincoln Magnet Band performed God Bless America and they sounded great!

I always love going to the Project Search graduation ceremony! These students learned important skills for working a job, plus did multiple internships throughout Memorial and other businesses around Springfield. And for the first time in Project Search history, all of our graduates are leaving employed!

🗓 May 30, 2026 | 10:00 AM–1:00 PM

Who can audition?
All high school students within Springfield District 186 are eligible and strongly encouraged to audition.

What to prepare:
🎤 A 90–120 second vocal cut that shows off your strengths and range
🎶 Bring your instrumental track (Bluetooth speaker provided)
💃 Be ready to learn a short choreography combo that will test how you move, pick up, and perform

What we’re looking for:
Confidence. Commitment. Creativity.
And performers who walk in ready to work—with clean, professional etiquette and a willingness to grow.

Springfield Learning Academy Graduation ceremony today! So proud of all these kids who celebrated today and didn’t give up. Some of them came to SLA with just a few credits but they never stopped and made it! Two scholarships were awarded as well one for 5,000 and one for 18,000. Congrats!!

Owen Marsh ribbon cutting ceremony today! We got to see the flag transferred from the old flag pole to the new one by the Black Tiger Honor Guard and then we all said the Pledge of Allegiance to welcome the new school. Then we took a tour of the new building which is absolutely gorgeous. There’s so much space! Enjoy your new leap pad Frogs!
