With the winter storm expected this weekend, we want to provide another reminder that the inclement weather shelter will be open.

Due to the colder conditions, Saturday and Sunday nights we will open early at 6:00 PM and remain open into the daytime on Sunday if needed. We will adjust hours as necessary if the storm worsens.

A printed schedule showing the nights we’ll be open when temperatures are below 32°F is posted weekly on the front door.

We are currently well stocked with supplies. If you’re looking for ways to help, the best option is to place hats, gloves, hand warmers, and similar cold-weather items in the blessing boxes around town over the next few days. Using the boxes helps ensure these items are accessible throughout the community to those who need them most.

Stay warm and safe, everyone!

As a reminder, we post an updated printed schedule once a week on our message board by our front door with the expected nights we will be open to provide a warm meal, showers, and a safe place to stay when temperatures are projected to fall below 32°F.

With the extra cold weather coming through during this cold snap, we wanted to provide an additional reminder that the warming shelter opens at 8 PM, must arrive by 9 PM. If no one shows, the on duty volunteer for that night may go home, or if people have arrived, the door will be locked for safety. On Saturday and Sunday night’s we will open earlier (6pm) due to the winter storm.

We are currently well stocked on supplies. But if you are looking for ways to help, the best way is to place hats, gloves, hand warmers, and similar items in the blessing boxes around town. Using the blessing boxes around the community helps ensure these items are accessible to everyone who needs them all around town.

Stay warm, everyone!

Good afternoon!

We wanted to provide everyone with a quick update. During the winter we had volunteers that were present at the center on nights it was below 32 degrees overnight.

We are an inclement weather center. Which means only open during *extreme weathers. We try to go by the same guidelines as Sumter County’s inclement weather center. We will be open this summer on extreme heat nights In addition we are offering the water program again this summer.

Starting next week, each day there will be coca-cola coolers with ice water available to the homeless and less fortunate in front of the center. Free of charge and we try to restock it every morning.

We wish everyone a Happy Beggining to Summer!
