Good times

You remember those metal lunchboxes that sat in the cloakroom all morning until lunch, warming up like a little oven? By the time you cracked that thing open, your bologna sandwich was room temperature at best, the bread was a little soggy from the mayo, and that milk they handed out was never quite cold enough. But you know what? Nobody complained. You sat on those concrete steps with your friends, swapped half a sandwich for a cookie, laughed until your sides hurt, and thought it was the best lunch in the world. We didn't need fancy bento boxes or insulated bags with ice packs. We had our trusty metal lunchboxes, our paper bags, and each other. And somehow, every single one of us turned out just fine. Did your lunchbox ever get that weird warm smell by lunchtime?
