Last week, American Gilman International Scholarship participants had the opportunity to explore the heart of Europe: Brussels! During their three-day study trip, the participants got to learn about the EU, its many functions, and its role in transatlantic relations.
The first day took students to visit the EU institutions: the European Commission and the European Parliament. The second day focused on the importance of transatlantic relations, with a lecture at the European External Action Service - EEAS and a visit to The U.S. Mission to the European Union - USEU Brussels. The final day final day introduced other important actors in the Brussels bubble: a member state representation, an NGO, and a think tank. A busy but fruitful few days! Study Abroad US

A heartwarming moment for EU Ambassador Lambrinidis as he received the HillVets International Diplomacy Award last night! He was commended for his commitment to paying tribute to the service of veterans on both sides of the Atlantic.
The EU proposed today an unprecedented support package for Ukraine of up to $18 BILLION for 2023. This will come in the form of loans, disbursed in regular installments throughout the year. https://bit.ly/3To7ziN
Thanks to this package, Ukraine will be able to keep paying wages and pensions, as well as maintain essential services such as hospitals, schools, and housing. It will also allow Ukraine to restore critical infrastructure destroyed by Russia, like its water systems and transport networks.
