Officers from the Mifflin County Regional Police Department, assisted by officers from the Lewistown Police Department and Granville Township Police Department, were involved in two (2) vehicle pursuits during the overnight hours between Saturday 12/10/2022 and Sunday 12/11/2022 that resulted in the arrests of multiple subjects.
On Saturday 12/10/2022 at approximately 9:45pm, an MCRPD officer observed a vehicle, driven by Eric McMinn of Lewistown, making an unlawful pass on Electric Avenue. This vehicle then led the MCRPD officer on a short pursuit that ended with McMinn exiting his moving vehicle and running on-foot. McMinn's vehicle impacted with and dislodging a shed on a property behind the 800 block of Valley Street before coming to rest. McMinn was chased down to Mill Road before being caught and arrested. McMinn faces felony charges including DUI-related charges along with several other vehicle code violations and is currently incarcerated in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.
On Sunday morning at approximately 3:40am, officers from MCRPD along with Lewistown Police Department were dispatched to the Mount Rock Cemetery for a suspicious vehicle. As officers approached the area, the vehicle was observed leaving the area and was finally stopped on Bridge Street. As officers began to approach the vehicle, the operator drove-off at an extremely high rate of speed and police gave chase. The vehicle was followed across Parcheytown Road to Burnham where it turned onto West Freedom Avenue and continued past the Commons and over the US Hwy 322 overpass. The vehicle's operator was unable to negotiate the sharp turn on Ferguson Valley Road at Winding Lane due to the high speeds and left the roadway, crashing into several parked cars at a residence in the area and ending the pursuit. The vehicle was occupied by five (5) juveniles with the operator being the only occupant who had not been drinking alcohol. Two (2) of the juveniles were evaluated and transported to the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for evaluation of possible injuries as a result of the crash. The remaining juveniles were arrested and turned over to their respective families, and most of the damaged vehicles were towed from the scene by Parson's Towing. The 17-year-old juvenile operator faces felony charges along with several other vehicle code violations, and the remaining teenager occupants face underage alcohol-related charges. MCRPD was assisted by officers from the Lewistown Police Department and Granville Township Police Department, and by Fame EMS.
