Cold Weather – Office of Emergency Management

As very cold weather conditions are possible starting early this week, please take time to prepare and remember the 4 Ps (People, Pets, Pipes and Plants):

✅ People should dress warmly, in layers, to avoid hypothermia (abnormally low body temperature).

✅Pets should be brought indoors or provided with a warm place to sleep.

✅ Pipes that run outside or under a house should be wrapped in pipe insulation to avoid cracks due to water freezing in them.

✅Plants may need to be covered or brought inside to avoid frost damage.

Please follow City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas, and trusted sources for updates as you stay .

Houston Public Works Issues Boil Water Notice

Boil Water Notice: Houston is under a boil water advisory. Please follow trusted and verified sources for updates.

While this is being done out of an abundance of caution, you should prepare for the next 24 hr (due to State regulations).

Like many, I have questions. In the coming days I want to understand how this happened, but right now I am asking why we found out about it so late in the evening and why text alerts weren’t sent out earlier.

Earlier today, the water pressure dropped below the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s required minimum of 20 PSI during a power outage at the East Water Purification Plant on Sunday, November 27, at 10:30 am.

As a result of the Boil Water Notice, the public is advised:
*Do not drink the water without boiling it first.
*Bring all water to a boil for at least 2 minutes.
*Let it cool before using.
*Individuals without power to boil water are advised to use bottled water for consumption.

DETAILS ABOUT RESTORATION ESTIMATES: The City monitored water pressures across the city throughout the day. Water pressure was restored to all customers shortly after the power outage. If you are still experiencing low water pressure, please call 311.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact 311 or email [email protected].

While there is no indication of how long this state-required boil water advisory lasts, we always encourage district residents to be as prepared as possible and suggest planning for 24 hours.

Hello, Councilmember Kamin. Can we get an update on the Heights Hike and Bike Trail bridge as it goes over the Bayou? That bridge has been closed for more than ... eight ( 8 ) months?? It's a HUGE part of so many peoples' lives; why has the city done nothing to restore it? If they're waiting on the nearby park to finish construction... my vote would be to open it now. Don't wait, re-open this bridge ASAP; announce it here, local news, Nextdoor, etc! Thank you for your advocacy.
Thank you Abbie for sponsoring those 70 furbabies for their journey up north to give them a better chance to find their furever homes ❤️🐾🤗
PS: I voted for you to represent my District C.
A native Houstonian
Thank you for sponsoring RPM rescue dogs
Thank you for sponsoring the transport of 70 dogs through Rescued Pets Movement up north to their furrever homes! Glad to see local politicians with the same morals as myself 🙂
THANK YOU Office of Council Member Abbie Kamin for sponsoring 70 of Rescued Pets Movement animals for transport. Your efforts are graciously appreciated. Thank you for caring and supporting the Houston's rescue efforts to our homeless animal issue. Together we can make a difference and change the negative environment our neglected furry friends experience here in Houston.
Thank you SO much for helping to transport some of Houston’s homeless dogs to other states. Rescued Pets Movement, fosters and volunteers appreciate your help!!! THANK YOU!!!
We are District C constituents. My wife was denied a COVID-19 vaccine today at Delmar Stadium despite having an appointment. A City employee said that they had no record of her appointment despite her showing them the appointment email that the City sent her. This happened weeks after she had an appointment at Minute Maid Park only to be turned away because the City ran out.

It’s obviously not the City’s fault that the vaccine is in limited supply. But the City cannot continuously make appointments with its citizens for a potentially life-saving treatment and then deny them at the last minute – it is cruel.

What does Council Member Kamin propose to do about this failure on the City's part?
