Today, I had the honor of having former Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division Chief Executive Officer Mike Lappan recognized by the full Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors during Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚

For the past 10 years, Mike has demonstrated tremendous leadership, compassion, and dedication to improving behavioral health services and expanding access to care throughout Milwaukee County. His work has had a meaningful impact on countless individuals, children, and families in our community.

The Trimborn Farm resolution passed overwhelmingly at today’s Milwaukee County Board meeting!

Thank you to all of my fellow Supervisors for your support in moving this important agreement forward. This is a major step toward preserving and revitalizing Milwaukee County’s only historic park.

I’m excited to see what the future holds for Trimborn Farm as we work to create a sustainable, active, and community-centered future for this one-of-a-kind historic property in District 11.

I also appreciate all of the community input, engagement, and collaboration that helped shape this process. The best days for Trimborn Farm are ahead! 🌳

I visited the Charles Allis Art Museum tonight for the first time along with some of my fellow Supervisors and Project Manager Erica Goblet. It was a very interesting and insightful experience.

The museum, located in the historic Charles Allis mansion on Milwaukee’s East Side, offers an incredible glimpse into Milwaukee’s cultural and architectural history. Walking through the home and viewing the art collection really highlighted the importance of preserving spaces like this for future generations.

What stood out most to me was the strong example of a public-private partnership at work in Milwaukee County. Institutions like the Charles Allis Art Museum continue to serve the community through education, cultural programming, preservation, and public engagement because of collaboration between local government, nonprofit leadership, donors, and community supporters.

Experiences like this are a reminder that investing in arts, history, and culture strengthens our neighborhoods and helps tell the story of Milwaukee County. I’m also looking forward to similar opportunities to support and highlight places like Trimborn Farm in my Supervisory District and the important role it plays in preserving our local history and community identity.

Grateful for the opportunity to visit and learn more about the museum’s impact in our community.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, let us also take a moment to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

May we never forget our fallen heroes or the families who continue to carry their memory forward. ❤️

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

It was an honor to recognize Caden Schaefer-Rose on behalf of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors at his Eagle Court of Honor this evening. 🦅🏛️

Caden is an impressive young man whose leadership, service, and dedication give me great hope for our future. In addition to achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, he had the opportunity to serve as a Senate page in Washington, D.C., and after graduation this year, he will be joining the United States Air Force.

Meeting talented young leaders like Caden reminds me that the future is in good hands.

Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment, and best wishes for a successful future, Caden!

Today, we proudly celebrated the 35th Anniversary of Arbor Day in the City of Greenfield at the recently dedicated Joan Stevens Woods. It was especially meaningful to have Joan Stevens herself in attendance at 93 years young!

For decades, Joan has dedicated her time, energy, and passion to the beautification and preservation of Greenfield’s natural spaces. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations to care for our environment and community.

A special thank you as well to Greenfield City Forester Dennis Ferminich for his ongoing dedication to maintaining and enhancing the city’s green spaces, and to Mayor Mike Neitzke for his leadership and support of environmental stewardship in Greenfield.

Celebrations like today remind us how important trees, parks, and green spaces are to the health and vitality of our neighborhoods. Congratulations to the City of Greenfield on 35 years of Arbor Day celebrations! 🌳

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Here in our county, we recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. Every day, friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors may be facing challenges that aren’t always visible—but they matter, and so do they.

This month is a reminder to:
• Check in on one another
• Speak openly about mental health
• Seek help when you need it
• Show compassion without judgment

You are not alone, and support is always available. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more understanding community.

Later this month, I’ll also be recognizing an individual who has made a significant impact on advancing mental health in Milwaukee County—stay tuned.

Let’s continue working together to break the stigma and support one another—this month and every month. 💚

Milwaukee Public Museum: Ownership, Transition, and What It Means for You

As Milwaukee County moves forward with the future of the museum, I want to share a clear update on what’s happening with ownership and the transition process.

📍 Current Ownership Milwaukee County currently owns the museum building and collections. The museum itself is operated by a private nonprofit organization that manages day-to-day programming, exhibits, and operations.

🏗️ The Transition to a New Museum Plans are underway for a new museum facility to be developed and operated by the nonprofit. This project involves a shift away from the County-owned building to a new, modern space designed to better serve visitors and preserve collections.

🔄 What Happens to the Current Building? As part of this transition, Milwaukee County will determine the future of the existing building. This process—known as “disposition”—may include options like sale, redevelopment, or repurposing, depending on what best serves the public interest.

💡 Why This Matters This transition is about long-term sustainability: • Protecting valuable collections

• Improving visitor experience
• Reducing long-term costs for taxpayers
• Supporting economic development in our community

🤝 Transparency & Public Input Any decisions about County-owned assets will involve public discussion and oversight. I am committed to ensuring transparency and making sure residents understand each step of the process.

I’ll continue sharing updates as we move forward. If you have questions or want to learn more, please reach out.
