Our hours will be:
Monday - Wednesday: 6am - 9pm
Thursday & Friday: 6am - 11pm

Sincerely grateful for all of my neighbors who joined last night’s 2023 Milwaukee County Budget Town Hall Event in Wauwatosa. We had a lively discussion (very, very interactive, at times!) and I’m so thankful for it. These neighbors could have spent the last days of Milwaukee County’s summer anywhere, but they came here to talk about their priorities and our future. I heard you loud and clear!

Special thanks to County Supervisor Peter Burgelis, Andrew Meindl - Alderman District 1 Wauwatosa, and Tosa Alderwoman Jennifer Dolan for joining and contributing your insights!

Grateful to the team at the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner for giving me a tour of their office. Their role is difficult, and made even more challenging by the space they’re in. But their work is essential, and they deserve better.

Happy 187th birthday Milwaukee County! Thanks to County Executive David Crowley for leading today’s efforts and to all the Sups and county staff who joined. Let’s come together and celebrate Milwaukee County’s birthday by sharing a few points of pride. Did you know these fun facts? 🧵

Milwaukee County is the economic engine of Wisconsin. Our gross domestic product (GDP) – a key measure of economic performance – is greater than Iceland and 98 other nations around the world! 💰

Milwaukee County’s economic output exceeds 49 other Wisconsin counties, COMBINED. And our population is greater than 39 other Wisconsin counties, COMBINED. 🌆

Milwaukee County is the home of multiple FORTUNE 500 companies and thousands of small businesses And we have UWM, one of the best research universities in the country!

Our airport MKE - Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport can take you virtually anywhere, and it’s one of the simplest airports to get to and through! ✈️

We also have strong quality of life. Among the top 20 places to live in Wisconsin according to Niche, 9 are in Milwaukee County! 🎡

Milwaukee County was recently honored by Niche as the best county for young professionals. And we’re the most diverse county in the state! 🛝

This is the home of a world-class Milwaukee County Zoo, museums, and Milwaukee County Parks. This is the also home of some of the best schools and hospitals you can find in America! 🏥

We have major league sports and multiple minor league teams to cheer for. And Milwaukee County has one of the shortest commute times you’ll find in the U.S. - made even easier by our good friends at Milwaukee County Transit System! 🚌

We’re on a journey. We’re not there yet. But we have a lot to be proud of. I’m grateful to live here, and thankful to serve everyone on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. ✔️

Proud to join County Executive David Crowley this morning at Fondy Farmers Market to help kickoff the “Milwaukee Market Match,” a new $1 million Milwaukee County program to make fresh, locally-grown farmers market fruit and vegetables more affordable for our neighbors-in-need.

For every $1 that someone-in-need spends on fruit and vegetables using FoodShare/SNAP dollars at a Milwaukee County farmers market, Milwaukee County gives those shoppers an extra dollar to spend on more fruit and veggies!

It couldn’t come at a better time. Fruit and veggie prices are expected to rise 10% and 5% this year, respectively!

Shout out to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, UW Extension, American Heart Association - Wisconsin and all the Milwaukee County farmers markets for supporting! Special shout out to the Wauwatosa's Farmers Market!

I love the bus! Take it to work every day and I genuinely love it. Grateful for Jacqueline Zeledon and Jeff Sponcia for riding along the Gold Line this morning and briefing me on what’s next for the Milwaukee County Transit System: faster routes, more frequency, more green technology, and an even better customer experience.

If you haven’t considered if riding the bus could work for you, now’s the time! 🚎

Remember when conservatives defended private businesses, especially when they sought to expand their revenues by attracting new audiences? Remember when people lamented that baseball was no longer “America’s pastime” because fewer people attended?

Now, some “conservatives” are bashing our Milwaukee Brewers for hosting a Pride Night to engage and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, using language that’s so inappropriate and mean-spirited I wouldn’t expect it from a kindergartener, let alone an adult: https://pjmedia.com/culture/robert-spencer/2022/06/03/take-me-out-of-the-closet-to-the-ball-game-milwaukee-brewers-to-host-drag-queen-night-n1603132

If you have a second today, send our friends at the Milwaukee Brewers a note to thank them for doing what’s right for the community, what’s right for business, and what’s right for baseball. Even better, consider buying tickets for tomorrow’s game: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/specials

Also, shout out to Aurora Health Care for presenting Pride Night. I see you. 🌈

Joined a group of state, county and city leaders this week to announce a study to convert Hwy. 175 (the freeway spur north of American Family Field between Wisconsin and Lisbon Ave.) into a boulevard - potentially connecting Washington Heights to the west with the Washington Park neighborhood to the east, creating opportunities for housing, development, connections to Am Fam field, etc. The study should take about 18 months to complete. More to come. Learn more: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2022/05/04/transportation-should-milwaukee-remove-a-second-freeway

“The two main goals of the (Milwaukee County) program are to make it easier for people with low incomes to access fresh produce and to financially support local farmers in the process.” 🥦 🥕 💪 👩‍🌾

The Milwaukee Market Match program doubles FoodShare dollars spent at farmers markets up to $20 per card per day. Approval from Milwaukee County for $1 million would fund the program through 2024.

Milwaukee County takes it slow on spending federal pandemic relief as it seeks community input

Very proud of the patient, strategic, deliberate and inclusive way Milwaukee County is managing its federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. I hope others are, too. https://amp-jsonline-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/amp.jsonline.com/amp/6384416001

While the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools already know how they're going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars in federal pandemic aid, Milwaukee County is taking things at a slower pace.

Zoom transformed our court system, now what?

The verdict is in: virtual “Zoom” court is safer, more accessible *and* could potentially save Milwaukee County significant amounts of money. Excited to see this transformation embraced and to continue working with everyone involved to create an even better experience in the future.

https://www.fox6now.com/news/zoom-transformed-our-court-system-now-what

It’s because of the COVID-19 pandemic Zoom is now in place in courts. Now, the question becomes: has the coronavirus changed the way we’ll appear in court for good?
