We were pleased to welcome the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to Glenwood Springs this week for a firsthand look at how Holy Cross Energy and our partners are working to strengthen grid reliability, reduce wildfire risk, and build more resilient energy infrastructure.

Assistant Secretary for Electricity Katie Jereza and the DOE delegation visited HCE’s distribution control center, our DOE-funded wildfire resilience project near Glenwood Springs, and the Aspen Pitkin County Airport & Business Center Microgrid.

Update 2:09 p.m. - Power has been restored to Avon and Beaver Creek. Thank you for your patience!

Update 12:18 p.m. - We are aware of an outage affecting the same area of Avon as this morning, impacting approximately 330 members. Crews are en route and will investigate the cause. Thank you for your patience as we work to safely restore power.

Update, 9:26 a.m. - Power has been restored. Thank you for your patience and understanding while our crews worked safely to restore service.

Update, 8:49 a.m. - Most of the Gypsum area has been restored with crews on-site and investigating outages in and around Avon.

September 19, 7:30 a.m. - We are currently experiencing multiple outages in the Gypsum area, along Colorado River Road, and throughout Avon and Beaver Creek.

Update: September 14 - We want to clarify information regarding utility crews working in the Frying Pan Valley and address some confusion that occurred last week.

Holy Cross Energy has authorized a third-party contractor (PPI/Power Pole Inspections) to perform pole inspections throughout the area. These inspections are a routine part of maintaining a safe, reliable electric system and help identify poles that may require repairs, replacement, or future upgrades.

Please note:

• PPI crews may knock on your door to let you know they’ll be inspecting poles on or near your property.

• They are driving trucks with New Mexico license plates, and at least one side of their vehicles displays the Holy Cross Energy logo.

• Their work is legitimate, and they are authorized to be on-site conducting inspections on behalf of Holy Cross Energy.

We understand this activity, combined with recent scam awareness efforts, may have caused concern or uncertainty. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion and appreciate members who reached out to verify the crews' identity.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain and improve the reliability and safety of our electric system.

⚠️ Member Alert: Suspicious Activity in the Frying Pan Area

HCE members living in the Frying Pan area between Basalt and Ruedi Reservoir have reported suspicious activity involving individuals claiming to be representatives of Holy Cross Energy.

Please be aware and use caution if someone approaches your home or property claiming to be working for HCE.

We have verified that our crews and authorized contractors are not currently conducting door-to-door visits or requesting access to members’ homes in this area.

If someone claiming to represent HCE comes to your property and you are unsure who they are, do not provide personal information or allow them into your home. You can contact Holy Cross Energy directly to verify whether someone is authorized to be there.

If you believe you have encountered suspicious activity, please contact local law enforcement.

We've surpassed 1,000 chargers enrolled in our Charge at Home program!

Charge at Home helps you get the most out of your home charging experience with an electric vehicle. Simply choose an approved charger that best suits your needs, join the HCE network in your charging app, and we’ll reimburse you for the charger's cost up to $549.

In exchange for the charger rebate, members participating in Charge at Home must allow HCE to occasionally delay charging during times of peak electricity demand. To help make the process even easier, we can even cover the upfront costs of your charger installation and spread your repayment out over three years on your electric bill.
