1:15 p.m. update: most members have been restored, but HCE crews continue to make repairs to the affected area. Members may experience intermittent outages while repair work continues.

11:45 a.m. update: about 800 members in Basalt are experiencing an outage related to the downed power line. Crews are working to get everyone restored as quickly and safely as possible.

Attention River Users: A downed power line is on the Roaring Fork River downstream of the Hooks Bridge near Willits. Please avoid this area while our crews work to clear the line.

Today, our entire team is taking part in our annual Safety Training Day. From outage response, hazard recognition, and office safety, every employee plays a role in creating a safer workplace.

As part of today's training, our Member Services Call Center will be closed. If you experience an outage or emergency, our 24/7 dispatch team remains available and ready to respond.

We were proud to send several local students to the NRECA Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. this summer.

This incredible opportunity connects students from across the country with their peers and gives them a firsthand look at our nation’s government, leadership, and the cooperative business model. From meeting elected officials to exploring historic landmarks, Youth Tour helps inspire future leaders and broaden horizons.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Ed Grange, former Holy Cross Energy General Manager.

Born to Italian immigrants and raised on a ranch near Basalt, Ed devoted his life to this valley and to Holy Cross Energy. He began with a summer job while in graduate school and went on to serve HCE for 41 years, including 13 years as our second General Manager from 1975–1993.

Ed did every job asked of him: clerk, construction, bookkeeping, office management, before leading our cooperative through decades of growth. He helped bring electric service to the new Vail ski resort in 1962, a gamble he later said “paid off,” and after retiring he spent 17 more years consulting and documenting our history, ultimately authoring Holy Cross Electric: In the Beginning, The First 30 Years. His story has been shared in interviews, podcasts, and national publications, preserving the legacy he built.

Our annual Ed Grange Award honors HCE employees for outstanding performance and their on-going commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of Holy Cross Energy.

Legend, leader, historian, mentor, and friend: Ed Grange will be missed by so many of us who knew him. We all truly stand on the shoulders of this giant.
