Engine 5 on scene. Smoke and fire coming from the building. Pulling a line and making transitional attack.

Engine 6 pulling a backup line.

CWLP has been dispatched.

Engine 7 on a hydrant.

Engine 1 reporting to command.

Active power line down on Charlie side of building.

Fire is code 1.

Truck 1 conducting primary search.

Truck 2 providing ventilation.

Truck 1 reports primary search clear.

Code M has been called.

Due to the structure fire being called a code 2, only 4 Springfield fire apparatus were available it the city.

Springfield Fire Department beat Springfield Police Department - Illinois in the highly anticipated “Battle of the Badge” softball game. The first pitch was thrown out by Mayor Buscher. Police struck first in the top of the 1st inning taking a 1-0 lead. It was all SFD from there rattling off 13 runs beating SPD 13-1.
The red hot fire department bats couldn’t be stopped. Especially Jared Pellman who was named the games MVP after hitting two monster home runs. The defense was on point all game. Our fearless leader, Chief Zummo, pitched a complete game while tracking down a few fly balls to show off his defensive skills. The most impressive thing to come out of the game was no injuries on either side. It was a great time for both teams and all of the fans. A special thanks to Springfield Lucky Horseshoes for their hospitality and running the show. I know both teams are itching for a rematch.

Structure fire reported on the 3700 block of Sequoia.
Engines 2,11,6, and 5
Trucks 1 & 2
Battalion 2
Are all in route to the scene.

Engine 2 on scene and reports no smoke or fire but residents are outside of the house. 2 is going in to investigate.

Engine 2 cancelled all units. Fire is out and engine 2 can handle.

Engines 5, 6, 7, and 1
Trucks 1 & 2
Battalion 2

Battalion 2 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire and heavy smoke.

Truck 2 reported fully involved garage.

Engine 6 pulling a line preparing for a defensive attack.

Engine 7 catching a hydrant.

Engine 5 charges the bumper line and engine 6 charged the 250’ line.

Truck 2 reports “code 4” or fire is out. Just hitting hot spots now.
