Proud to join my colleagues on the Behavioral Health Commission to learn about the challenges and successes that the Prince William County Crisis Receiving Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit have experienced serving those needing behavioral health and substance use services. These Crisis Centers deter emergency room use, serve individuals in a supportive community setting and connect patients to long term treatment plans. I believe they are key to an effective diversion and treatment strategy.

Proud to celebrate Dr. Charles Drew day at his namesake elementary school in Arlington. Dr. Drew was a Black physician and pioneering researcher. The school is known for its STEAM focus and community involvement and is also designated a Purple Star School because of its support of military families.

I am so excited that Governor Spanberger signed SB 199, a measure that recognizes the people who power our economy. I have carried a paid sick day bill for the past three years because I believe that Virginia workers deserve to be treated with dignity. That means being able to take time off to see a doctor when you are sick without the fear of losing a job and sacrificing the ability to support your family. I look forward to continuing to work with the Governor on matters important to Virginia workers and Virginia families.

Proud to participate in the Broadband Advisory Council’s telehealth conference! Broadband access is essential to connecting Virginians to much needed healthcare, and removing barriers like transportation and lack of medical professionals physically present in an area. Connecting every Virginian to broadband remains a top priority for me and many other lawmakers.
