Wild and Free We are a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to professionally rehabilitate wildlife, educate the community, and conserve the natural environment.

We are a 501(c)3 wildlife rehabilitation center permitted through the MN DNR and USFWS in Garrison, MN committed to professionally rehabilitate wildlife, educate our community, and promote the conservation of the natural environment. We provide rescue, medicine, surgery, and physical therapy leading to the release of wildlife back into their natural habitat under the authorization of MN DNR and US

FWS rehabilitation permits. We envision a community that values the natural environment and the creatures that inhabit it, where the public, wildlife rehabilitators, and wildlife professionals work in collaboration to preserve the health and diversity of local ecosystems for generations to come. We strive towards our vision of a wildlife-friendly Minnesota through the cooperation of concerned citizens and the Minnesota DNR. Our programs are supported by membership dues, fundraising, and donations. We do not receive any federal or state funding. In addition to our donors, we could not operate at the capacity that we do without the support of our volunteers, who donate more than 3,000 hours a year.

Check out our newest muskrat kits — all 7 of them!

Be sure to turn the sound on and listen to their tiny little peeps. We're not sure what they're saying, but they've been carrying on quite the conversation since they arrived!

🚨WILD & FREE NEEDS YOUR HELP🚨

Baby season is in full swing at the center — and our shelves are feeling it. Right now, we’re caring for nearly 150 animals at the center, and almost all of them are babies. That means we’re going through Esbilac faster than we can keep it stocked. 🍼🦝🐿️

If you’re able to help, donating Esbilac would make a HUGE difference for the wildlife currently in our care. Donations can be dropped off at Garrison Animal Hospital or at our intake center:
📍10036 Old Hwy 18 in Garrison

You can also order through our wishlist on our website:

We’re incredibly grateful for every single person who helps us keep these babies fed and growing strong! ❤️

Last time we asked you to guess what these little fluff balls were… and many of you got it right — pheasant chicks!

These tiny chicks are doing very well at the center so far. They’re growing exactly as they should be and chirping up a storm every day. We can’t wait to watch them continue to grow!

Another batch of babies at Wild & Free!

We’re currently caring for several young opossums that came to us after being orphaned. Despite a rough start to life, they’re doing very well so far at the center! We can’t wait to watch these little ones continue to grow and eventually make their way back to the wild.

Our Great Horned Owls are growing fast! 🦉

They’ve been eating more and more mice every day, and it’s amazing to see how quickly they’re changing as they get bigger and stronger.

Be sure to take a close look at the second picture — the owl on the left has its nictitating membrane showing! That’s a special clear “third eyelid” that helps protect and moisten their eyes while still letting them see.

We've got another owlet that just arrived - this one is a Barred Owl!

Barred Owls are known for their famous “who cooks for you?” call, and they’re one of the few owl species with dark brown eyes instead of yellow eyes.

Follow along to watch it grow big and strong here at the center!

Check out our newest patient!

This little bird arrived at the center yesterday and is doing great so far. At only about 6 weeks old, it’s one of our smallest — yet feistiest — patients!

Know what kind of bird it is? Drop your guesses in the comments if you think you do!
