The Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Racism-Free Schools training. This comprehensive training, developed in collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Education, addresses how to prevent harassment and discrimination based on race, color, and national origin in elementary and secondary education.
This training provides teachers and administrators with essential tools and knowledge to create safer, more inclusive learning environments. The interactive training includes video insights from Illinois educators, real-life scenarios, and actionable strategies to combat racial discrimination.
The training is available for free to all public school educators through the Ed Leaders Network or directly via the IDHR website https://okt.to/h5ZEyT. This initiative supports the implementation of Public Act 103-0472 (also known as the Racism-Free Schools Law), which requires every school in Illinois to adopt a written anti-discrimination policy, train employees on how to recognize and report discrimination, and inform students and families of their rights and reporting options.
