Northwest Public Power Association - NWPPA NWPPA represents and serves locally controlled utilities in the Western U.S. and Canada. and Canada who are allied with the electric utility industry.

Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a not-for-profit trade association of nearly 150 public/people's utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities, and crown corporations in the Western U.S. NWPPA also serves the sales and networking needs of approximately 300 Associate Members across the U.S.

Please join us in congratulating Rachel Morse of Chugach Electric on her election as board president, along with the full slate of officers and newly elected trustees. Announced during the 86th Annual Business Meeting in Spokane, this new Board will help guide the association and support public power across the region. We also recognized outstanding contributions to the industry at our Annual Conference, presenting 2026 awards to nine individuals and one member utility who have made a lasting impact on public power. This afternoon at the NWPPA's Annual Conference we had exciting lunchtime presentations from Sheila Corson from Mason PUD 3 and James White from Chelan PUD. Sydney Henry from Google shared insights on how major energy users are thinking about demand response and what it means for utilities planning for the future. The closing keynote featured Brian Sloboda Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) who shared about exploring growth, technology, and what’s next for public power.

This morning’s sessions at NWPPA’s 86th Annual Conference focused on workforce development and building the next generation of leaders in public power. Attendees heard valuable insights from Iris Fawcett of Benton REA and Thomas Stredwick of Grant PUD on leadership development, workforce challenges, and investing in employees for long-term success. Members also received a WAPA update from Manjot Gill of Turlock Irrigation District and Tracey LeBeau of Western Area Power Administration, highlighting important industry and regional developments impacting public power utilities. Members gathered for the Annual Business Meeting and Lunch this afternoon, hosted by NextEra Energy, before spending the afternoon engaged in educational sessions and discussions on the future of public power, featuring insights from presenters at Franklin PUD, Snohomish County PUD, Modern Electric Water Company Salem Electric. We celebrated Mike Squires from UAMPS with an appreciation award for his service on our board. Attendees also networked during sponsored refreshment breaks throughout the day.
