Big news for York City this year, and even better, it’s coming from within our own community. 🚒

Congratulations to Adam Smith on his appointment as Fire Chief of York City Department of Fire/Rescue Services! A 4th generation firefighter, Chief Smith has served our city since 2010, earning multiple commendations for his heroic work and rising through the ranks from Deputy Chief to lead the department.

We’re also proud to announce that Kevin Westover has been named Deputy Chief. A graduate of York High (Class of 1996) and Shippensburg University, Chief Westover has been a dedicated member of the department since 2003 and continues to serve with distinction.

What makes this moment even more special? Both Chief Smith and Chief Westover call York City home. Their leadership reflects the strength, pride, and commitment that comes from serving the very community you live in.

This morning as members were completing annual hose testing, Truck 99-1 and Engine 99-9 were dispatched to assist West Manchester Township Fire Department with a 2nd alarm Structure Fire. Crews arrived and completed searches, fire attack, and overhaul on the second and third floors of the delta exposures. B Platoon working.

We are pleased to announce that Chief Kevin Westover has accepted the position of Deputy Chief within the Department.
Chief Westover joined the York City Fire Department on February 20, 2003. Chief Westover is a 1996 graduate of York High, and a 2000 graduate of Shippensburg University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Degree.
Chief Westover resides in York City with his wife Laura.
