♻️ We diverted over 9,500 pounds of waste from the landfill thanks to the AMAZING work of our KC Parks Ambassadors and Jacob Chapman from Moose Paw Farm at the 2026 Ethnic Enrichment Festival!

2026 Stats:
- 6,560 lbs/3.2 tons of waste for compost
- 2,560 lbs/1.5 tons of mixed recycling
- 405 lbs of glass for recycling
- 57 lbs of aluminum cans for recycling
- Educated countless festival goers about landfill waste reduction.

In total, that’s 9,582 pounds/4.8 tons of festival waste that was kept out of the landfill!

🐾❤️ Happy National Dog Day! ❤️🐾

In honor of National Dog Day, we’re celebrating some of our favorite four-legged park visitors! 🐶🌳 From zoomies and playtime to making new furry friends, KC Parks’ off-leash dog parks give pups a place to run, exercise, socialize and just be dogs.

KC parks has five off-leash dog parks. Amenities vary by location, with several offering separate areas for small and large dogs, water fountains, shade, trails and more.

🐕 Penn Valley Off-Leash Dog Park: KC’s first off-leash area, opened in 2004, with separate areas for larger and smaller, elderly or disabled dogs.

🐕 Swope Park Off-Leash Dog Park: A five-acre dog park with separate large- and small-dog areas and water fountains.

🐕 Kemp Off-Leash Dog Park: Located near 10th & Harrison, with separate areas for large dogs and small, elderly or disabled dogs.

🐕 West Terrace Dog Park: A 1.5-acre, members-only dog park with controlled entry, water fountains, shade and beautiful views of the West Bottoms and Missouri River.

🐕 Waggin’ Trail Off-Leash Dog Park: A 4.7-acre partnership between KC Parks and North Kansas City Parks & Recreation, featuring separate areas, walking trails and agility equipment. l

A reminder for all our dog parents: dogs must be leashed unless they are in a designated off-leash park, and handlers are responsible for supervising their dogs and cleaning up after them.

So grab the leash, pack some water and let the good times roll! 🐾💚

❤️⚽ A new piece of Kansas City pride has found a home at our 9th & Van Brunt Soccer Complex in historic Northeast Kansas City!

KC Parks & Recreation is excited to receive a beautiful Parade of Hearts heart, gifted and installed at our soccer complex—the home of KC Current’s no-barrier soccer league!

A huge thank you to JE Dunn Construction for this thoughtful gift and for helping bring even more heart to KC Parks. We’re proud to have this special piece of Kansas City art welcoming athletes and visitors to the complex! ⚽️
