Over , MSP Troopers conducted traffic safety initiatives statewide, focusing on speeding, work zones, Move Over violations, and DUI prevention.

During these initiatives, Troopers issued more than 4,800 citations and warnings and arrested 75 drivers for suspected DUI.

Maryland State Police continue to aggressively enforce impaired driving laws to keep our roadways safe. The message is simple and always the same: if you are suspected of drunk or drugged driving, you will be stopped, arrested, and held accountable.

More importantly, you could take a life — including your own. Please drive responsibly.

The Maryland State Police was proud to stand alongside our law enforcement partners in New Jersey this weekend for the 8th Annual Valor 5K, held in honor of fallen heroes.

Each participating agency selected a fallen hero to represent. Captain Hansen, Trooper First Class Pettit, Trooper First Class Rogers, and Trooper First Class Smith completed the race in full uniform and gear in honor of Corporal Ted Wolf.

We were honored to be a part of such a meaningful event.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

As we honor their service, we are inspired by their legacy to continue serving others with fairness, integrity, and a commitment greater than ourselves.

This Memorial Day Weekend, Maryland State Police will be busy patrolling our roadways to help keep traffic moving safely, but safety doesn’t just begin and end with law enforcement. It’s a shared responsibility with every motorist, year-round.

We urge Marylanders, and those who travel through our state, to prioritize safety and to always plan ahead. Avoid dangerous situations like speeding or aggressive driving.

Choose to drive sober or choose a sober driver. Use a rideshare service. It’s that easy.

You will see state troopers working visible enforcement up and down the U.S. 50 corridor as motorists cross the bridge heading to and from the Eastern Shore, as well as statewide. Let’s work together to ensure a safe weekend for all.
