Our partner, Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT) works collaboratively with landowners to conserve land in our region. Whether or not to protect your land involves a thoughtful review of the goals you have for your property, its features, financial considerations, and your family’s vision for your property's future. NVCT is committed to helping landowners assess the various options available to them. This is our second year partnering with NVCT and last year we were able to raise $20k for them! Today, we celebrated the incredible supporters of NVCT's Great Blue Heron Circle at The Winery at Bull Run, a cherished NVCT-conserved property. Our Great Blue Heron Donors, those who've given over $1000 in a fiscal year, were honored for their immense contributions to "Saving Nearby Nature."

🎨 The event also debuted the GBHC logo, which was beautifully crafted by Zollie Kershaw, a talented 12-year-old artist and the son of NVCT's Director of Communications, Aaron Kershaw. Zollie joins us for kayak cleanups and invasive pulls, proving that our youth are the future stewards of our precious environment.

A heartfelt thank you to all our Great Blue Heron Donors who attended the event! Your dedication to preserving nature is truly remarkable. 🌳🌟

Today marked a momentous occasion as we celebrated the dedication of Terborgh Terrace Gardens in partnership with Arlington Parks and Recreation, Friends of Urban Agriculture, the Student Conservation Association and Subaru.

🌳 We were honored to have Arlington County board members Matt de Ferranti for Arlington Takis Karantonis, Christian Dorsey and Libby Garvey join us, along with State Senator Barbara Favola. Together, we share a deep belief in the importance of connecting people to nature, and what better way to achieve that than by helping to nourish our community?

This project is a tribute to the late Anne Terborgh, a former Arlington resident whose wonderful land donation will now serve as a community plot garden. Ms. Terborgh would have been overjoyed to see this partnership, and her legacy lives on through the beauty and sustenance this garden will bring.

🌱 Terborgh Terrace Garden is not just a garden; it's a symbol of hope. It's a space that with community buy-in will contribute to alleviating food scarcity in the Arlington region, reminding us all of the power of community and collaboration.

Thank you again to our Arlington County board members, Senator Barbara Favola, and all of our partners for their unwavering support. And special shout out to all our partners:

Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture
Arlington Parks and Recreation
The Student Conservation Association

Your dedication to our cause is truly inspiring. 💚

Yesterday, we stepped back in time for exploration at the Historic Oak Hill Day Open House!

Visitors had the chance to discover one of Fairfax County's oldest homes, take guided tours, and immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Oak Hill. Remember, Historic Oak Hill is a private residence, so this exclusive access will not be available again until next year. 🗓️

We hope you didn't miss this unique opportunity to connect with the past, but if you did, come out next year and learn a little local history at an NVCT-conserved property.
