Position:
Summer Camp Youth Counselor

Responsibilities:
- Assist Camp Director with organizing and leading camp activities.
- Provide guidance and support to campers throughout the day.
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all campers.
- Assisting with set-up and clean-up of camp activities.
- Encourage campers to participate in activities and engage in positive interactions with peers.

Requirements:
- Must be a rising high school junior.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Ability to communicate effectively with campers and staff.
- Must be available for the entire 8-week long camp.

***JOB OPPORTUNITY***

Job Title:
Best Summer Yet Camp Director

Summary:
The Camp Director is responsible for the implementation of summer camp programming for 20 campers (2-8 graders). In addition, the Camp Director will carryout and/or provide oversight for all administrative and development activities. The Camp Director will have management responsibility for 3 camp staff and volunteers (will vary weekly). Camp Director will enhance the instructional strength of program, as well as have a positive impact on campers’ academic performance, behavioral and social skill strategies. Please note that programing has been developed but we are open to input from and suggested changes by the camp director. Camp Director reports to the Senior Pastor.

Pay:
$600/weekly, this is a contracted position

In a typical day you will:
• Assist in planning, preparing and setting up for daily camp activities.
• Maintain supplies and materials, communicate material needs to Senior Pastor/Session.
• Maintain, track and record campers’ behavior and attendance.
• Facilitate and participate in outdoor activities for campers.
• Assist staff in the implementation of behavioral management strategies.
• Work with campers during enrichment activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works closely with staff, volunteers, families and Pastor to ensure successful summer camp.
• Communicates with and guides camp staff in the ex*****on of their daily duties.
• Plans and facilitates daily staff debrief and next day planning meeting.
• Collects and track all camp fees and expenditure.
• Ensures timely payment of all camp expenses.
• Monitors budget performance.

Qualifications/Job Requirements:
• Classroom experience, preferably K-8th.
• Basic computer skills, excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Willingness to learn.
• Flexibility in workplace.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Works a flexible schedule approximately 40 hours a week, typically Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30pm, daily staff meetings, 1 Family Engagement Sunday.

Required Experience/Education:
• Experience with school students, preferably K-8th.
• Youth Summer programing experience preferred, not required.
• High School Diploma, Bachelor Degree Preferred

To support awareness and increased knowledge for such an important topic in our community, we have invited guest presenters to speak on such topics as how trauma and mental health overlap, reducing stigma and supporting mental health recovery, su***de prevention, and how physical health impacts mental health.

The Mental Health Symposium will occur on the main campus in Battle Creek at the Binda Theatre on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

This event is FREE and each attendee will receive dinner, a certificate of attendance, and an opportunity to win door prizes and resources!

Lead Teacher Position
First United Methodist Church Childcare Center

Looking for a Lead teacher that is excited to be in the classroom with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The applicant should have a PASSION for children and enjoy the life they bring to the classroom.

The Lead teacher will have knowledge of using developmentally appropriate practices with infant, toddler, and preschool children, can establish a daily routine, plan lesson plans for the children in the classroom according to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs.

The lead teacher will have the responsibilities of building and maintaining a healthy and friendly relationship with children, staff, volunteers, and families.

Applicants will be able to pass the various background checks required by LARA through MDHHS and Michigan State Police Department.

Other Qualifications:
• MUST have a high school diploma or GED
• Possess 18 CEUs in early childhood, a CDA or an Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development (you may be working on your CDA or your Associate’s to qualify)
• Must have 4.5 CEU’s in infant/toddler training OR willing to get within 6 months of hire
• Be at least 19 years of age
• CPR, First Aid certified or obtain upon hire
