Have you ever served as a mentor for someone? January is National Mentoring Month, a time to reflect, learn more about what that means in our businesses and communities, and yes, to take action! Trends for the start of 2022 speak directly to the Great Resignation, as evidenced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) quit rate data impact the need for mentoring in organizations. One trend that stands out though according to a MentorcliQ survey is that 90% of workers who are involved in mentoring say they are happy in their jobs. Our philosophy is that directors and owners of early child care programs who mentor to their employees have a much better chance of retaining people. Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Early Education Business Consultants, LLC, is based in Virginia Beach, VA, with the goal of helping preschools, childcare centers and family day homes improve their business practices. As our new part-time administrative assistant, you’ll be part of a small, dynamic team that is making a meaningful impact on the quality of early education programs in communities across the United States.

You’ll be a great fit for us because you have the following skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with business customers
• Problem solving skills
• Able to work independently
• Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Experience with different technology and applications/and or the ability to quickly learn new technology

Your daily activities might consist of the following:

• Scheduling client meetings and monitoring scheduling app
• Oral and written communication with clients
• Electronic filing and general organization
• Data entry and report generation
• Logistical support for workshops
• Monitoring projects and tasks outcomes
• General website updates and social media

This position will likely be 20-30 hours per week initially, with the potential for an increase in hours in the next several months. Most of the work can be done remotely from your home, with a very flexible work schedule throughout the week. Broadband internet service will be needed to complete the work successfully.

As our ideal candidate, you will have the above skills along with experience in early education—either as a teacher or director. Additionally, experience with ProCare is highly desirable.

LISTEN = SILENT

This month at our SBVP Leadership Forum we will be discussing Chapter 7 - Using Strengths-Based Coaching Techniques to Increase Engagement, did you know that a large part of coaching is listening? Did you realize that LISTEN has the same letters as SILENT? Sometimes it may be hard to shut out all the distractions and our internal voices and just listen to what is being said.
