I want to say a sincere thank you to the Austin Police Department for responding so quickly today. Two more suspects were found inside the building causing more damage, and your fast response meant a lot. Thank you to the officers for your professionalism, dedication, and for helping protect our community. Your hard work and commitment are truly appreciated. Stay safe, and thank you for everything you do.

Last night, our building was broken into and vandalized. The damage left behind is heartbreaking. Every broken door, damaged wall, and destroyed piece of property takes away from what truly matters helping the veterans who depend on us.

This isn't just a building. It's a place of hope for homeless military veterans who have already sacrificed so much for our country. Every dollar we spend repairing this damage is money that could have gone toward housing, food, and support for the brave men and women who served our nation.

We refuse to let this setback stop our mission, but we can't do it alone.

What makes this so heartbreaking is that we're in the middle of transforming an old hotel in Austin Texas into permanent housing for our nation's Homeless Military Veterans. This project is about giving the men and women who served our country a safe place to call home and a chance to rebuild their lives.

Unfortunately, while we were working to make that vision a reality, several individuals broke into the building and caused extensive damage. They stole electrical wiring, plumbing, destroyed sheetrock, and vandalized other parts of the property. Every dollar we now have to spend repairing this damage is money that could have gone directly toward helping our veterans.

We believe that even in difficult moments, there is an opportunity for people to come together and make a difference. That's why we're asking for your help.

We are proud to announce that our Homeless Military Veterans Organization will be launching our very first affordable housing project in Austin, Texas!

This project is about so much more than building apartments it's about building hope, stability, and a future. These affordable apartments will serve as a stepping stone, helping veterans transition from housing insecurity to the dream of homeownership.

For many veterans, owning a home represents more than just having a place to live. It means security, independence, financial stability, and the opportunity to build generational wealth. Homeownership provides a strong foundation for families, improves quality of life, and gives our nation's heroes a place to truly call home after the sacrifices they've made.

Every veteran who moves from homelessness into stable housing is another life transformed. By creating affordable housing that leads to homeownership, we are helping veterans regain confidence, rebuild their futures, and become stronger members of our communities.

We believe that expanding access to affordable housing and creating pathways to homeownership can play a significant role in reducing veteran homelessness. Together, we can make a lasting difference one veteran, one family, and one home at a time.

This is just the beginning. We're honored to take this first step in Austin, and we look forward to creating more opportunities for veterans to achieve the American dream they fought to protect.

BREAKING 🚨 A U.S. Navy veteran who served three tours in Iraq is being held in ICE detention and faces deportation to Mexico a country he left as an infant.

His name is Benito Miranda Hernandez.

Benito was brought to the United States as a baby and grew up here. Like many immigrants who serve in the U.S. military, he believed his service would pave the way to citizenship.

After leaving the Navy, he struggled with the difficult transition to civilian life. He was later convicted on a drug charge and served a years long prison sentence.

On June 14, he completed that sentence.

His mother, Maria Miranda, and his brother were on their way to pick him up.

But before they could reunite with him, ICE agents took Benito into custody.

By the time his family arrived, he was gone. They spent hours searching for him, unsure where he had been taken.

"He was doing everything the right way," his mother said in Spanish. "He had so many hopes, so many dreams."

What makes this case especially striking is that Benito had already received his green card earlier this year.

He was pursuing legal permanent residency through the legal process, yet he remains in ICE detention while advocates fight to keep him in the country he served.

According to one advocate, she is currently assisting about six military veterans detained by ICE in 2026 alone. Federal data also shows that at least 34 former U.S. service members were placed in deportation proceedings over the past year.

ICE has long been criticized for failing to consistently track the veteran status of people in its custody, despite legal requirements to do so.

For decades, the U.S. military has relied on immigrants to serve in its ranks. An estimated 118,000 immigrant veterans still have not become U.S. citizens.

Benito is one of them.

He served the United States. He built his life here. He earned legal permanent resident status.

Now he is waiting to learn whether the country he fought for will deport him to a country he has no memory of.

Right now, we're helping a veteran who has been forced to live in a small RV after his home became unsafe due to extensive mold damage and other serious issues. The damage was so severe that we had to strip the house down to the studs and start over.

Now we need your help to rebuild his home and give him the safe place he deserves.
