This morning I got to help serve pancakes at the annual Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Annual Pancake Breakfast. Thank you to all of our first responders who are often away from their families during the holidays as they put their lives on the line for our safety.
Today’s Oversight Committee report is damning. The Commanders workplace was defined by a toxic, misogynistic culture that Dan Snyder not only oversaw, but actively participated in and contributed to. His treatment of the women he employed was grotesque and his conduct toward them after they spoke out was despicable. His stonewalling of our Committee, including by withholding more than 40,000 relevant documents, can only be interpreted as a sorry attempt to conceal further evidence of his own wrongdoing.
Above all, I want to thank the women who put their lives on hold and their careers on the line in order to introduce Dan Snyder to some accountability. They are the heroes of this story.

HUGE news — Metro's Silver Line extension will be open to riders on November 15! It's been a long time coming, but Metro service to Dulles and beyond is just two weeks away.
The 11.5-mile extension has been delayed by more than four years of construction issues.
My thoughts are with Speaker Pelosi and her family as her husband, Paul, recovers from the vicious, unconscionable attack in their home last night.

Today, I joined Speaker Pelosi at the Crimea Platform Summit in Zagreb, Croatia to reiterate the United States’ steadfast, and unequivocal support for Ukraine.
We cannot engage in magical thinking regarding the nature of the Russian threat. Russia has lied about its intentions in Ukraine and overturned international agreements fundamental to safeguarding peace on the European continent.
Ukraine has our support now and until victory.

The House just passed the Chai Suthammanont Healthy Federal Workplaces Act, my bill that requires federal agencies to publish detailed plans for protecting the health and safety of their employees during future public health emergencies.
Chai was a federal employee and my constituent who died after contracting COVID at work at a Quantico daycare center. He was one of many frontline feds whose jobs required them to continue serving the nation in crowded spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each of them are heroes.
We wrote this bill in partnership with Chai’s widow, Christina, to ensure that the health and safety of our dedicated federal workforce is always a top priority. I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart for turning her pain into purpose and working with us to honor Chai in such a meaningful way.

There is no more profound responsibility given to the Congress than to send our young men and women into combat. That power lies with us for a reason, and its high time we reclaim it. That starts with repealing the 2002 AUMF.
